This is a tool that can fake screenshots of any website interface .

But the purpose of this tool is not to destroy, but to warn ordinary people (who don’t understand programming): don’t easily believe the “screenshots” you see online!

How to use?

Download the official version:

1. Get your Chrome browser and circumvention tools ready.
2. Just install it from the Chrome extension store.

Download the developer version (convenient for people who cannot circumvent the firewall):

1. Download the Chrome browser (the higher the version, the better)
2. Download the development version from this repository and unzip it.
3. Open the chrome://extension page in the browser and turn on "Developer Mode" in the upper right corner
4. Click "Load unzipped extension" in the upper left corner and select the unzipped folder

If you see a picture like this in a group one day, what will be your first reaction?

"Fuck, so fast?"

In any case, as long as your first reaction is not to doubt its authenticity, then you are likely to become a victim of "fake screenshots"!

We have all seen various screenshots: including but not limited to知乎,微博,豆瓣, NGA , V2EX , QQ ,微信,各种新闻站...

It would be fine if the screenshots were just about jokes, but most of the time they are not. They tend to be related to something/someone, which (fake screenshots) is very likely to lead people to have a wrong view of that thing/person (wrong because I think most of the makers of fake screenshots have Bad motives.)

In addition, most people will not take the initiative to verify the authenticity of the things described in the screenshot (the reasons for not doing so will not be discussed here), which is one of the important reasons for the proliferation of "fake screenshots".

What can I do about this?

Three directions:

1. Stop the spread (extremely difficult to achieve)
2. Tell people that they should take the initiative to seek verification (difficult to achieve)
3. Tell people to be suspicious of the authenticity of all screenshots (easier)

I chose the third direction.

In terms of method selection, I chose to do the opposite: develop a tool that can easily modify the text/images of any website . (Of course, only supports PC version)

I use the tool itself to tell people, “Oh, it turns out that any screenshot of a web page can be fake!”

The purpose of this tool is to convey information (as above), not to destroy. Therefore, all screenshots produced by this tool are watermarked .

There are two types of watermark processing:

1. When modifying the web page text, a transparent watermark will be added. (Invisible to the naked eye, but can be detected with a specially provided watermark inspection tool)
2. When the picture is modified, a visible (but shallow) watermark will be added.
