This is the moment of truth. Your team has rushed into battle. Hopefully you gave them an inspiring pep talk.
The battlefield is split into two, with your team on one side and the enemy on the other. Midway, the front row monsters of each team faced off against each other. Monsters will take their turn first. If the speed of two monsters is equal, the attack type is used to break the tie: first magic, then ranged, melee. If the attack types are the same, a random order is chosen.
As the battle unfolds, you may want to note what works and what doesn't. After participating in a few battles, you'll become more familiar with which combinations of monsters are most effective in different types of battles, and in which positions they're most effective.
There are two types of cards: Summoners, magicians who harness one of the six Forces. They use this power to summon monsters. Monster, any person or creature summoned by the summoner to fight. Monsters engage in actual combat.
Both summoners and monsters can be found in SplinterlandsBoosterPacks. There are six sources of magic in the Split: Fire, Water, Earth, Life, Death, and Dragons
Each of these primal forces is supported by a different faction known as the Schism.
Summoners use magic to summon various races, habitats, and creatures that exist within the same schism. For example, Earth Divided Summoners will be able to summon monsters that live in mountains and forests. The more powerful the card, the higher the mana cost. This cost will impact how you build your team. These numbers reflect the character's physical strength, speed, toughness, and health. The icon represents the schism and the color represents the rarity (common, rare, epic or legendary). Higher levels mean more powerful cards. Gaining levels may add statistics or unlock abilities. Gain experience by combining duplicate cards. Green bars indicate your progress to the next level. These are special skills or powers used in combat.
melee attack
This means you are attacking the enemy at close range. Normally, the attacker must be in the front row. Damage is distributed to the enemy's armor before health is affected. Chances are missed.
Remote attack
Characters attack from a distance. Unable to attack from the front row. Damage is distributed to the enemy's armor before health is affected. Chances are missed.
magic attack
Characters with magic attacks can deal damage from any row. Not only that, this form of attack ignores the defender's armor STAT (damage is applied directly to health). No missed opportunity. It always hits.
