The dragons are tasked with rebuilding the land and discovering the nature of a great catastrophe that has left only young dragons in the world. The dragons and players in TheAwakening play the game however they want, with multiple paths potentially leading to the same or different outcomes.
A small number of players may focus on crafting, or raising animals, or training chefs to cook delicious and beneficial dishes. Others may be more focused on the story and wish to pursue one or more of the multiple quest lines. The game is designed in such a way that not all paths are possible for a dragon, and an important moral of the story is the importance of working with others to accomplish goals.
Animals play an important role in the game, and since one of the skills in the game is focused on caring for the animals, the game is designed to be fun and safe for kids to play.
The game features NFT and blockchain integration, granting players optional ownership of in-game assets, characters and crafted items.
Players can plant seeds to grow either one-off (cabbage, radish, etc.) or continuous (trees and shrubs) crops. Crops have time to grow and can be harvested by clicking on the item when mature. Players can purchase or recruit farm workers who can help harvest crops, and parents who have raised their children can also let their children work on the farm.
