Folk prescription, that is, one-sided prescription. It refers to a prescription that has little medicinal flavor and has unique curative effect on certain diseases and syndromes. For thousands of years, a very rich, simple and miraculous folk prescriptions, secret recipes, and proven prescriptions for treating difficult and miscellaneous diseases have been circulated among the Chinese people. The opposite of partial and positive, folk remedies are generally not included in official medicines or medical classics, but sometimes they can achieve better therapeutic effects.
There are two main sources of folk remedies: the accumulation of experience and the spread within the family. The former is mainly spread among the people and can be known to most people, while the latter is often passed down alone.
There is some truth to the idea that folk remedies can cure serious diseases, because folk remedies may contain mechanisms of action that cannot be recognized by current medicine. Usually people do not choose folk remedies, only when hospital treatment is ineffective or traditional treatment is expensive.
