This winter seems to be very cold. Those who are webmasters are particularly impressed. Since these are extraordinary times, we, as small webmasters, have no other better choice besides cooperating with the "governance policies" of relevant departments and IDC. It’s not easy to be a webmaster, and it’s even harder to be a small webmaster. Safety should come first!
Originally, I didn't want to say too much about some IDCs, and of course I didn't want to scold some unkind IDCs, because we are all civilized people, and it is really not good to scold others. In fact, many IDCs do it "as a last resort" due to pressure from above. In fact, it is not easy for everyone to get out. But as the saying goes, there is always something wrong, not repeated. I still think I should say something about some extremely unkind IDCs, so as to prevent some new students from suffering similar problems again!
1. When choosing a space, be sure to pay attention to the “traffic trap”
The "old man" I'm talking about today is the first host (5778.com) that claims to be among the top three domestic IDCs. I have been using their space since 2007, and the domain name is also registered with the first host. Once purchased, it lasts 4 years. Here is something that all students need to pay attention to: when registering a domain name, it is recommended to directly choose well-known websites such as Wanwang, Xinwang, Ename, and Admin5, because registering domain names in these places can at least guarantee protection. Otherwise, when you register a domain name with some other IDC, it will be very troublesome to sell or transfer the domain name in the future, and some IDCs will try their best to prevent you from transferring the domain name for their own interests.
Let’s talk about IDC. The space price of the first host is relatively low compared to other well-known IDCs. This is the main reason why I chose them in the first place, and it lasts for 4 years after I buy it. At the beginning, it was just a website for fun. Since the website had little traffic and only dozens of IPs per day at most, everything was fine. As the website accumulates over time, it has gradually grown to an average of about 2,000 IPs per day. However, that's when the nightmare started.
Suddenly one day, when I visited my website, I suddenly found a 404. I quickly contacted their customer service staff, and finally got in touch with them. The other party told me that my traffic exceeded the limit and was blocked. I asked at that time, Why was it shut down suddenly? Even if the traffic exceeded, you should have informed me in advance. The other party told me that they usually close the space at 4 a.m. and will send an email notification after closing. I immediately went to the mailbox to check, and there was indeed an email sent by 5778, but the funny thing was that the email content was empty, not a single word. Since the traffic was turned off, I didn't say anything. I talked to the other party in a nice voice for a while and asked to open it, but the other party wouldn't open it anyway. It's okay to open it, but you need to spend money to upgrade the space. I originally planned to move away, but when I thought about it, the domain name was registered with you and the website data was also in your space. I decided not to fall out and just spend money. So I spent more than 200 and the other party upgraded my space. . After the upgrade, the website is finally OK. Since it is OK, I won’t say anything more!
Unfortunately, the good times did not last long. Within two months, one day I visited my website and found that the web page had changed, pop-ups were added to the page, and there were several 51la statistical icons at the bottom of the page. I was depressed at the time. Is this my site? I quickly checked via ftp and found that something was wrong. The homepages of several channels had been repaired and a lot of statistical code had been added. I quickly contacted the customer service of the first host and asked. They told me that the server was hung up and there was nothing I could do. For this matter, I almost spent a whole day checking the problematic files one by one and trying to " "Restore" its original appearance. That was very depressing. Fortunately, the hacker was kind enough and only added a few statistical codes and pop-up windows to the page without deleting the files. Otherwise, I would have had nowhere to cry. After a day's hard work and the efforts of the first host's "universal technology", the problem of malware was finally solved.
The days went on, the troubles continued, and a few months later, one day, when I was looking at my mailbox, I suddenly found that 5778 had sent me an email. When I opened it, I saw a blank email. Needless to say, based on previous "experience" , the space must have been closed again. Look at the time, it's only the 17th. Contact customer service quickly and ask them to activate it in a nice voice. Customer service told me that today is only the 17th, and there are still 13 days before the end of the month. Your site has already exceeded traffic and cannot be opened. I said at the time, how could your space "not be able to support" the website with more than 2,000 IP addresses every day? The traffic was so high that it was too obscene. As a result, the other party was very selfless. No matter what I said, they would not open it. They told me that it would be fine, but they would have to spend money to upgrade to a larger space. I was completely speechless and told him that I would not spend any more money to upgrade and that I would move the website. As soon as I finished speaking, the other party became unhappy and told me that there would be absolutely no refund for the space. I said, then I will transfer the domain name. The other party first sent me a form, asked me to fill it out, print it out, and send it to Guangzhou along with a copy of my ID card. Then they told me how much money I had to pay, and that it would take at least one month. Time told me a lot of "professional terms". When I heard this, I thought this was too much trouble. Forget it, let's not transfer. Now that we're on your ship, it seems that it won't be easy to get off. Just make peace with it now that you've arrived.
The consequences can be imagined. Since the website was inaccessible for half a month, Baidu blocked my site. The site that originally included more than 20,000 sites was deleted by Baidu. A month later, the website was "opened" again. I tried many methods, but none of them were able to be re-included by Baidu. I was very disappointed. Since then, the site has been hanging there without much management, but I can still get a few views every day. Hundreds of IPs. In the following days, I didn’t care anymore. Just turn off the first host if you want. It was turned off this month due to traffic problems, and it will naturally be turned on next month.
2. Beware of space providers using the name of this “crackdown” to close spaces.
With the arrival of the winter of 2009, the "big cleanup" carried out by higher-level departments caused the Internet to undergo earth-shaking changes. Fortunately, my website has a registration number, so the first round of cleaning was not affected. Just at the beginning of this month, the website suddenly received a 404. I thought it was due to traffic problems that led to the closure. However, after checking the email, I found out that this time it was because of unwarranted "illegal content" because my navigation site included some movie sites. and several beauty photo sites. Therefore, the "administrator" of the first host said that my website violated regulations and was closed. So I contacted the customer service of the first host. The other party said that now the forums, novels, pictures, movies, etc. must be closed. , I said that I was a website navigation. Firstly, those links belonged to others, not mine. Secondly, those links were not pornographic sites! The other party couldn’t listen. Anyway, it was just a sentence. If it is not cleared, it will not be opened. There is no way. The only option is to delete the navigation site, put a few "regular" HTML pages on it, and then ask the other party to activate it.
Something unexpected happened. The other party said that it was no problem and could be activated. However, I needed to fax a copy of my ID card to him first, and I also had to handwrite a letter of guarantee and fax it to him. The content of the guarantee letter should state: I promise that if I do it again, If the space is closed due to content issues, the first host agrees to permanently close the space and no refunds will be given. I got angry and told them that I didn't have a fax machine and couldn't send it. The other party must have thought of it and told me that you can use your mobile phone to take a photo of your ID card, and then take a photo of your handwritten "guarantee letter" with your mobile phone. The guarantee letter must include your ID number and your signature. Then use QQ to send it to me. If you don't do this, the space can only be closed until it expires and is emptied. Looking at the purchase record, it is more than a year before it expires. There is no way. At this time, I can only compromise as they said, otherwise the space will be permanently closed and no refund will be given. So, after everything was done according to their instructions, the space was opened.
It's a pity that less than 5 days later, the space got 404 again. I was going crazy at the time. I looked at my mailbox and saw a blank email. Needless to say, it was shut down again due to traffic problems. I contacted their customer service again. Needless to say, the result was that the data for this month was used up and I would not be able to use it unless I spent money to upgrade to a larger space. Moreover, the customer service of the first host also "warned" me that you had written a "guarantee" a few days ago. If you are locked out again, it will be permanently banned and no refund will be given. I was anxious and asked, this time it was a traffic problem, not a content problem. Then I cursed a few times, and the other party said, oh, I won’t ban you permanently this time. Next time, if I find a " "Illegal" keywords, such as body art, gender, sex life and other similar words, will be permanently blocked for you. I directly closed the other party's QQ dialog box, because I was really speechless. You have to be kind, and it is rare for an IDC to be so unkind.
