The StarCraft 2 event of the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games will be held from 3:00 to 10:00 on September 1. Players from eight regions who stood out from the online qualifying competition were divided into four groups for the knockout round. The contestants in the knockout round are: Jaquelton (Indonesia), Nice (Chinese Taipei), Maru (South Korea), meomaika (Vietnam), StriKE (Thailand), Lightweight (Kazakhstan), AmyPie (Sri Lanka), DeMiGoD (Iran). (Hong Kong players were eliminated in the online group stage, while mainland China did not send players to participate.)
The game adopts a BO5 format (best of five games), and the final adopts a specific BO7 format (best of seven games).
Participants can choose the three races in the game: Protoss, Zerg, and Terran as their battle lineup. The eight players in this competition include three Terrans, three Protoss and two Zerg.
【First round of knockout round】
The player representing the Korean team is Maru (Zhao Chengzhu), known as the "King of Human Race". He is the only Korean professional player in StarCraft 2 to win the OSL, SSL, and GSL championships. He is also the world's StarCraft 2 player to this day. Ranked No. 1 player in Battle for Hegemony 2. In the first round of the knockout round, Maru faced StriKE, a human player from Thailand, and defeated him with a clean victory. The final pitted the Chinese Taipei team's protoss player Nice against Maru. Even though this game was a best-of-seven game, Nice still failed to win a game against the powerful Maru. In the end, Maru successfully won the StarCraft 2 championship in this year's Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games with an invincible appearance without losing a single game.
