Former BioWare general manager Aaryn Flynn revealed in the 398th issue of the magazine "Edge" that they had used "Neverwinter Nights", a classic RPG, to test and recruit developers.
Aaryn Flynn said that after the release of "Neverwinter Nights", it created a MOD community that inspired many people. Some MOD makers will cooperate with BioWare and finally join BioWare as full-time developers. BioWare then began incorporating the Neverwinter Nights modding toolset into the hiring process, and applicants had to prove themselves by building something specific in Neverwinter Nights.
Aaryn Flynn believes that even if these people later go to develop on "Mass Effect" or "Dragon Age", testing with "Neverwinter Nights" is still a way of fair competition, which can allow designers to get a consistent view.
The original version of "Neverwinter Nights" was released on June 16, 2002, and an enhanced version was launched on Steam in March 2018, but unfortunately it is not in Chinese.
