Let’s talk about my own experience in running a movie website:
I first came into contact with film stations. At that time, I joined a company in Hubei called "Only Film and Television". I spent 198 yuan and worked hard to promote it to every friend around me, join QQ groups, and post on forums. At the end of the day, I was really tired. After a few months, there was basically no profit. I was not discouraged by this. I held on to the hope of having a "movie station" that truly belonged to me, and worked hard to find the next exit.
While making a friendly link, I accidentally discovered that the other party's movie site was an open source program "Max Program". I asked him some common questions about Max, including installation, acquisition, and more. I also tried to download and try it out. At that time, I was setting up the server of this website for testing. After several days of detailed research, I found that the program is really simple, practical, and powerful, making collection very convenient.
I found 5944 free space and put the program on it. The website is now online, haha. A few days later, I found that the website could not be opened. I logged into the backend of the space and saw "blank". The program was cleared and I asked customer service. It turned out that I didn't set the date for deferred use.
I looked helpless, the website was shut down for nothing. There is no other choice but to buy “your own space”. At that time, I found Jiuwang Internet, and the customer service staff patiently introduced me to a certain preferential space. The price was not expensive, more than 300 a year. Under the guidance of customer service, I purchased the domain name and database, and the website was put online the next day.
Looking back now, it is really tiring to make a movie website (I rarely collect with one click, I add everything manually). I woke up early in the morning and updated more than a hundred movies without even brushing my teeth. At that time, I registered several Baidu spaces. Every time I updated a movie, I updated the space content and movie information one by one. The hard work paid off. In just over two months, the website traffic increased steadily to 2,000 and started to make profits. (The traffic source at that time was because of a certain keyword, Baidu and Google ranked first)
Until the end of last year, traffic fluctuated and was very unstable. Because of the severe crackdown, I resold it to others at the lowest price of 200 yuan. So far, the movie station cannot be opened. This may be because the space has expired and has not been renewed. I contacted the seller, and it turned out that the program was deleted because the space had expired. He didn't do his job well, so it was temporarily closed.
When I got home today, I was very surprised to receive a letter of complaint from the local cultural bureau. The general content is: I am the person in charge of a certain movie station. He claimed that I did not apply for a visual hearing. If I wanted to apply for a visual hearing, I would have to wait until March 1 to apply. Ask me to stop operating the website immediately. If I want to continue operating, I must apply for relevant certificates. Otherwise I will be prosecuted. I looked at the back of the letter and it was mid-February.
Let me briefly talk about the two major pain points of movie website owners:
1. It is difficult to make money. It is difficult to make money through formal advertising.
Like Alimama and Baidu Network, it is difficult to get approved for general movie website applications. I have applied to Alimama many times, and each time I received a reply: Improve the overall quality of the website: such as enriching the content of the website and maintaining the stability of traffic. Like Baidu Network, ranking and weight requirements are very high. When placing GG ads, the unit price is too low, and the click-through rate is high, making it easy to be K-ed. Pop-up windows and sideline advertisements seriously affect the user experience and make it difficult to retain users. If you come here for the first time, you won’t come again for the second time.
2. There are copyright issues, and receiving complaint letters is a common occurrence.
Webmasters who run movie websites all know that resources are always updated faster than genuine ones! Because "pirated resources" will be available as soon as possible! If one of your movies attracts a lot of traffic due to piracy, at this time, you will " Danger". Although I have only been making movies for a year, I have received dozens of letters of complaint.
It’s 2010, movie website owners, will you continue to operate the movie website?
