The large number of reads and writes to the hard disk in Win7 is really a headache. Even after the system is started for a period of time, the hard disk light will often flash wildly. After the above operations, this situation can be alleviated to a certain extent and the pressure on the hard disk will be reduced, but it will not affect daily use. It is worth a try.
Although Win7 is fast, it comes at the expense of our hardware. In particular, several system services built into the Win7 system are of little use to ordinary users, but they frequently read and write to the hard disk, which can be called a "hard disk killer" , today we will teach you how to get rid of these "hard drive killers" so that our hard drive lights will no longer flash wildly.
Stop unnecessary services to reduce hard disk pressure
General users can stop these three services.
The system services that can be called "hard drive killers" in Win7 are mainly the following three: Windows Defender, Windows Search, and Volume Shadow Copy. Windows Defender is the system protection software that comes with Win7. Its main function is to remove simple Trojans and rogue software. As long as anti-virus software is installed on the computer, it is not important. Windows Search provides an indexing service. When you search for a file on your computer, it can speed up the search. But in fact, even if you turn it off, the search speed will not be significantly affected. We don’t need the Volume Shadow Copy service. There is a “Previous Version” item in the file properties in Win7. Ordinary users don’t need the entire function at all. Now let's turn off these services step by step.
Stop the service in the control center
Press the "WIN" and "R" keys at the same time on the keyboard, enter "Services.msc" in the pop-up dialog box, and click OK to see an interface. Various system service programs of Win7 are concentrated here, and we can choose to close or open them. Find "Windows Defender" here, double-click it and a dialog box will pop up. Click "Startup Type" and select "Disable" in the drop-down menu. The entire system service will be stopped. Disabling Windows Search and Volume Shadow Copy is similar.
Stop two functions to reduce hard drive pressure
In addition to the above three processes, some small settings for Win7 can also protect the hard disk, and these settings will not affect our use of the system.
Turn off system restore
Click "Computer", "Properties", "System Protection", select "Configuration", and select "Turn off system protection" in the subsequent interface. The so-called system protection here is actually the automatic backup function of Win7. If you don’t need to restore the system frequently, you can completely turn it off.
Cancel file compression and indexing
The purpose of file compression is to save disk space, but in fact this function cannot save much hard disk space and has almost no practical effect. The purpose of the file index is to allow users to find files on the hard disk faster. This function is originally good, but Win7 will often check the index when idle, resulting in a large number of hard disk read and write operations.
Right-click the hard drive letter, select "Properties" on the menu, and on the pop-up interface, select "Compress this drive to save disk space" and "Allow the contents of files on this drive to be indexed in addition to file properties." Remove the small hooks in front of the two items. Then click OK to exit. However, this operation is only recommended for non-system disks, such as the D, E, F disks we use to store movies or music. It is better to leave the system disk as is.
