Before Windows 7 was released, Microsoft prepared the deployment tool MDT 2010 (Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2010) for it. MDT 2010 was officially released in early September last year, mainly adding support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. As Windows 7 SP1 approaches, Microsoft also completed the upgrade to MDT 2010 yesterday and officially released MDT 2010 Update 1.
If you plan to deploy Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 or Office 2010, MDT 2010 Update 1 provides you with complete tools and detailed guidance. MDT 2010 Update 1 provides many new features, let’s take a brief look:
— Support Office 2010;
— Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 adopts a new UDI deployment method (previously called Modena);
— Support the PRestaged Media function in System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3 Beta;
— Improved the Deployment Workbench driver import process and can detect the platforms that each driver actually supports;
— Fixed known bugs and provided more details.
MDT 2010 Update 1 currently supports the deployment of Windows 7, Vista, Windows xp, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2003 operating systems.
