It has been 3 months since the new website was established. The daily traffic from Google is 10 times that of Baidu, and it is included within 12 hours. According to this progress, the daily traffic of tens of thousands is just around the corner. I was secretly rejoicing, but when I woke up, Google's traffic suddenly disappeared. It didn't drop suddenly, it just disappeared. The traffic from Google at the end of the day was only a few IPs. For a website novice, such a blow severely damaged my confidence in building a website.
Calm down and think carefully. Since something happened, you need to find out the problem and solve it. After searching for the symptoms of the site, I found out that the site had entered the Google Sandbox. After reading the information on the Internet about "Google Sandbox" with mostly duplicate content, I filtered out some knowledge points and compared it with some of the work I had done on the site before. The following conclusions were drawn:
1. It is normal for Google to quickly include new sites and have high weight in a short period of time. Don’t think that if Google favors you in a short period of time, your site will be safe. The most important thing is to have a good attitude, otherwise the psychological gap will be very big after being sandboxed by Google (like me);
2. According to some professional SEO workers, new sites (especially sites with very high content duplication and non-original content) are generally easy to enter the Google sandbox in the first 4 months, so don’t be surprised and don’t ask why me. . If it enters my life, if it does not, I will be lucky;
3. Adding a large number of junk external links in a short period of time is an important reason for the current Google sandbox. As the proportion of external links in the weight of the site is getting higher and higher, all sites have begun to pay attention to external links. The more popular blog messages and forum promotions are done by almost every site. Many webmasters use blog message plug-ins and forum group posting software to create a large number of external links. Search engines (especially Google) regard abnormal growth in the number of external links as an important indicator of the sandbox effect, which makes us webmasters who manually add external links suffer from it;
4. Entering the Google sandbox is not necessarily a bad thing. Sandbox is currently an important means for Google to prevent and control garbage dumps. The key to determining whether a site is a garbage dump depends on how long you persist. If you can persist in building a website for a period of time after entering the sandbox, it means that the site will continue to exist. It is possible that the weight of the site will be restored (some SEOers even say that the weight of the site out of the Google sandbox will be higher than before);
5. Getting out of the Google sandbox is not difficult. A senior webmaster who once entered the sandbox said this in his blog: Keep updating, optimize appropriately, don't do evil, and you will be able to get out of the sandbox soon. Many SEOers say that original content is still needed, maybe original content can get out of the sandbox faster;
After understanding this knowledge and analyzing some previous practices, I simply made a targeted plan and implemented it strictly according to my own plan. No matter how Google treats me or changes, I only follow my own plan, just like the routines in martial arts. I use my own boxing skills according to the routine. As for how my opponent Google moves and attacks, I don't care about it. Implement it for at least a month and then check the effect. If it doesn't work, change the strategy. The work done in these two weeks is as follows:
1. In 14 days, I updated a total of about 1,500 pieces of content, including 2 pieces of truly original content (exploring hot spots, describing events, expressing feelings), about 300 pieces of pseudo-original content (only modifying the title), and all other content is the original title. Copy the original text;
2. I stopped leaving messages on other blogs. I personally think that the reason for being sandboxed by Google this time was probably because I left crazy messages on other people’s blogs in the previous week and added a large number of blog external links in a short period of time;
3. Make external links to 2 forums every day. The content of external links in each forum is different. There is an argument that if the content of the forum external links is very repetitive, Google will think that you are cheating by using the forum to send external links in bulk, and you will also enter the Google sandbox. I personally agree with this point;
4. A total of 6 friendly links were added, 2 in the first week and 4 in the second week. It should be noted that the friendly links found are related to the site content and have the same level of PR;
One morning two weeks later, I woke up and found that Google traffic had resumed, and it was 20% higher than the previous traffic at the same time, which made me ecstatic. At the same time, I was secretly happy for myself, my confidence in doing website work was back! Google is really good, and its support for you is not in vain.
After the whole incident, I have to think that this is a good thing, not because of re-establishing my position of authority in Google, but because as a webmaster, I think only such experience can help me solve problems in the process of encountering them. Gradually mature and improve, mature your mentality and improve your skills. Because there is still a long way to go, and we are all on the road to go better and further.
I just want to share this with my fellow webmasters!
