[4. SEO will eventually become a success after hard work]
1. Hesitation after graduation
I graduated in 2008. Although this city has too many memories, I never planned to stay in Guangzhou after graduation. I hate Guangzhou's polluted air, crowded crowds, and busy streets. Especially in the summer, it's like living in a steamer. In the end, I chose Shantou as my destination.
This is my second time coming to Shantou. The first time was when I went to Shantou Radio Station to participate in an audio salon with my old friend A Liang. This time I was mainly looking for a rental house. I found a place to rent a house that afternoon. It was a small room of about 10 square meters with nothing in it. The price was 250 yuan a month. All the people living in this building and the surrounding area are migrant workers. The distance between the houses is very close to each other, and the ventilation effect is very poor. Since I had just started looking for a job, I thought I could be more frugal.
The next day I moved some daily necessities from my hometown. Because the alley where I rented the house was too small, taxis couldn't drive in and had to stop at the intersection. It was estimated that it was about 300 meters away. I just held the big and heavy black leather bag in my right hand, dragged the black suitcase in my left hand, and carried the laptop in the black bag beside me, dragging it forward one breath at a time. The weather was still very cold in February, and the things were too It was heavy, and soon the sweat was flowing down my cheeks and down my chin.
I have always felt that physical pain is nothing, but the emptiness in the soul is the real pain.
2. Poor renting life
That night I arranged everything and went to the canteen to buy some plastic foam puzzles and put them together into a bed. Rental life begins.
On the first night after I left school and started renting an apartment, images of college life kept playing in my mind, and time went so fast that it made me breathless.
In the next few days, I always went to Internet cafes to look for jobs online. At that time, I spent some time making my first SEO website. The program used Zblog plus a black template, and targeted the keyword "SEO". It was the program I used to make websites. I can't call him any name. Later, because I was looking for a job, I didn’t have much time to take care of this website. In the next half month, I found that salespeople were being recruited everywhere, with basic salaries ranging from 400 to 800. Things like SEO and network security were completely useless.
I tried to talk to corporate recruiters and business owners about the role of SEO in corporate Internet promotion, and found that it was basically a chicken-and-duck talk. When I talked about SEO with a female boss in a software company, she was very dismissive. Before leaving, I made a bold statement: There will be the first SEO company in Shantou in the near future, and I will be the founder.
Half a month has passed, and every day I have to endure the sound of the TV from around 2-3 am, and the sound of cooking from 5-6 am. The noise made it difficult for me to fall asleep, so I couldn't sleep well for several days in a row. I had to be busy looking for work during the day, which was really tiring. I traveled for a month, looking for jobs online every day, calling companies every day to ask if they wanted to recruit people, and riding a tricycle to go to interviews every day.
After a month, I decided to move.
The second time I rented a house, I looked for Shantou Huicheng Real Estate. The rent was 500 yuan a month and the agency fee was 500 yuan. Later I found out that the agency fee was half of the monthly rent, which meant that I was defrauded of 250 yuan. I really hate that I have enough money, and at the same time, I strongly condemn Shantou Huicheng Real Estate's black-hearted fraud in treating its customers.
This time I moved to a quieter place. The space is more than 60 square meters, but the light is not very good. It is an old house and it is on the top floor. I thought I could be quieter by avoiding the noisy environment. However, the subsequent experience will be unforgettable for me forever.
This time, after several days of searching for a job, I still found no results, and I was too lazy to look for it. I decided to promote my first SEO website. So I started to do it and learned SEO at the same time. This time was the craziest time ever. Why? Since I didn’t have to look for a job at the time, I had all my free time. I get up at 7 o'clock every morning and start studying on the computer without eating breakfast. For lunch, I always order the fried rice downstairs, and for dinner, I often order fried rice or something else. The rest of the time is spent studying SEO, averaging more than 15 hours a day, and it continues like this. I may be the craziest person in the history of Chinese SEO industry.
The fried rice downstairs is getting greasy, but there is nothing to eat within a 300-meter radius, so most of the time we just make do with it. Later, my girlfriend gave me a rice cooker, so I went to the supermarket and bought some rice, bottled sardines, bean curd, etc. When I get tired of the fried rice, I cook my own porridge and pair it with sardines or fermented bean curd. This way the meal is over. Sometimes I am too lazy to go out and have porridge for two consecutive meals. At that time, I have no choice but to save money. Because I have zero income.
I even stay up late every day, often until 5:00 or 6:00 in the morning, just to see if the ranking has improved after Baidu updates, and then I can sleep peacefully. During the two months I lived there, I stayed up late every day, drank porridge every day, looked at the computer for 15 hours a day, did not exercise every day, and hid in a dark room every day, and the rampant rats came every night.
Although I went to bed at 5:00 and 6:00 in the morning, I would get up at 9:00 every morning because I was not sure if anyone would come to the website for consultation, so I missed the opportunity. My eyes would feel very sleepy every time I got up. There were even times when I couldn't see anything clearly after I opened my eyes. I had to wait for about 10 minutes before I could see anything clearly. I know my eyes are extremely tired, but I don’t seem to pay that much attention to SEO, and I am completely obsessed with it.
3. SEO’s so-called iconicity
The hard work paid off. After staying up late to study for such a long time, at the end of the third month after the SEO website was established, Baidu searched for the keyword "SEO" and the website ranked third. At that time, such achievements were the envy of many people in the industry, and it was at that time that I got to know more people in the SEO industry. I never felt that I was particularly good, and I even took the initiative to join some people in the industry. The most impressive thing was that I joined a guy who studied SEO in Shenzhen. He is somewhat famous, but I don’t know if he can’t stand the newcomers. On top of that, all our conversations were temporary conversations through QQ. I added his QQ account many times, but he ignored me. Until one day in 2009, he suddenly took the initiative to join me, and I refused directly.
At that time, more and more people were consulting, and domestic SEO training was in its infancy, so I decided on the training aspect. The website added a target keyword "SEO training" and ranked in the top 6 on the homepage after 6 days. Enrollment started in May. At that time, all the classes were taught by voice in person, which was very tiring and the effect was mediocre because students only had one chance to learn all the knowledge, which was the same as on-site training. There were not many people training at the beginning, just a few occasionally, and they started to make a little income. I still follow my usual irregular schedule.
4. Overwhelmed and the body collapses
Finally one day, I went to bed at around 4 o'clock as usual. Who knew that at around 6 o'clock in the morning, I had a headache, and my temples on both sides were beating violently. It hurt, so painful that I couldn't sleep. In addition to the tightness in my chest and feeling like vomiting, this kind of continuous headache was really uncomfortable. I suddenly realized that this time it was terrible.
I tossed and turned in bed until after 8 o'clock, my head hurt more and more, and the sound of the electric drill drilling into the wall next door was so loud that it made me uncomfortable, as if everything was coordinated. I immediately got up, washed myself, and prepared to go out to see the doctor. Just after I finished brushing, I couldn't help but vomited once. It was more uncomfortable than vomiting after being drunk. At this time, my chest became more tight and I started to sweat all over my body. I took a tricycle to Longhu Hospital and found the doctor. He didn’t say anything, just prescribed a few bottles of medicine and asked me to get infusions. After paying more than 200 yuan, I followed the nurse to the infusion area.
After losing two bottles, I didn’t know what it was but I felt more and more uncomfortable. I ran to the hospital sink and vomited again. The nurse saw me and asked me if I was okay. I said I was okay. I went back to the doctor and said that I still felt very uncomfortable after the infusion. He said it was okay, it was always like this. I was powerless to refute. As soon as I walked out of the hospital door, my vision went dark and I almost fainted. I quickly found a wall and leaned against it. Cold sweat broke out all over my body. It should be said that it was flowing.
I immediately took a tricycle back to the rental house and called home. As soon as I got through, I started vomiting again before I could speak. Dad also knew something was wrong, so he immediately called a car and caught up with us, preparing to take me back.
On the way home, the car drove wildly and I vomited all the way.
A week later, I returned to Shantou again. I will not give up SEO, but I must pay attention to my work and rest time. Being irresponsible to oneself is also irresponsible to others.
When I returned to Shantou and went upstairs, I found that the aluminum door outside was opened. I had an ominous premonition. I immediately opened the second door and immediately saw that the laptop on the table was still there, which made me feel relieved. If the computer is missing, several years of data inside will be lost. When I went downstairs for dinner that night, the janitor told me that someone had been robbed here a few days ago and asked me if
Nothing was lost, so it turned out to be a thief. This place is really scary. There are rats at night, the light is dark during the day, and thieves come to visit us not long after we live there. It’s like hell.
Like many newly graduated college students, I often think about the sage books I have read for more than ten years, but today I have reached such a state, and occasionally lament the ups and downs of life.
5. The only thing that lasts forever is search engines.
I still study and practice SEO as always. The keyword "SEO" has always been stable in the top three, and once ranked first, the keyword "SEO training" also entered the top three. Slowly, more and more people are learning. I used the money I earned from training to buy space and domain names. I felt that I needed more cases to experiment with and constantly improve my level. I couldn't just do a few successful cases and then stagnate. The teacher's technical level will always determine the student's success. level. Yao Ming's coach is definitely not an ordinary college basketball teacher. So I started looking for themes to make websites. By the end of the year, I had done more than 100 cases myself and for some clients.
Google's search "SEO" also entered the first page position. After the website had stabilized in the top three positions on Baidu for several months, bad luck came.
After a Baidu update, the first two of the three websites ranked 1st, 2nd, and 3rd were permanently banned, and the third one, my website, was completely downgraded. This happened by chance. There are no similar problems on any website, which feels like a warning to the SEO industry. Later, I built an SEO site specifically to optimize the word "SEO training". Although not many students were admitted during that period, there were still some achievements.
Not every case I do is successful. As the saying goes, a person is not good for a thousand days, and a flower is not good for a hundred days. Sometimes I think the experience of failure is more important.
The ups and downs of SEO websites made me understand: SEO is not eternal, because only search engines are eternal.
