Since I had just graduated from university, I found that there were four or five local universities but no website for everyone to communicate, so I established a forum called the Wanzhou University Student Alliance.
Since I usually have to go to work, and also work at night, I don’t have much time to promote the website, because my idea is to build the website itself first and then promote it, because if the website itself is poor, others will come. If you don’t like it at first sight, you won’t come here next time you see it.
Because of this, the settings of my forum section have been changed several times, but several of our local forums have imitated me. I want to be different from them, but every time I create a more distinctive section, they immediately follow up with the same section, copying some or even all of it, which makes me very depressed!
After the section is initially determined, it is time to build the content. Since I don’t have much time at first, I usually go to the local news website to reprint a few important local news articles every day, and occasionally post popular news. I only post it on weekends when I have more time. For some other posts, in the early days, I posted thousands of posts on my forum almost entirely by myself, and I insisted on updating them every day. After a period of accumulation, the forum gradually gained a certain popularity. Because I did not promote it, almost all of them came through searches. When it was high, there were still thousands of visits every day.
But there is one thing that has always made me uneasy, and that is Baidu’s ranking. Because my website is mainly a forum, I planned to name it Wanzhou University Student Forum at first. I searched online and there were two websites named Wanzhou University Student Forum. Although they are not popular, I think we need to be kind. I didn’t want to fight for their name, so I named it Wanzhou University Student Union. But soon another local website originally called Wanzhou University Student Forum also followed suit. It named it "Wanzhou University Student Alliance, Forum" and also used free space. When I first started searching for "Wanzhou University Student Union", it ranked first on Baidu. However, since the forum was renamed, Baidu seemed to be teasing me deliberately. It ranked me first for a while, and then ranked second after a while.
If the other party was a better website, I would be convinced, but that forum is not popular at all. There is not a single post for half a month. Even if there are posts, they are spam advertisements posted by others. It seems that no one cares about it at all, and it is still The free space used does not have an independent domain name. Because of such a rubbish forum, Baidu seemed to deliberately let the two of us compete, causing my ranking to go up and down. Logically, mine should be ranked first, and the other party seems to be a forum created by students and has not been optimized. If I were a profitable website selling products, and Baidu made my ranking drop, I might come to you for bidding ranking, but I am an amateur forum, and I would not come to you for ranking, and you let a junk website rank in the rankings. What do I mean by that? Google is different. It updates quickly and respects originality. I posted an article to my forum and other websites at the same time. Since I posted it to my forum first, when I search later, the article posted first in my forum usually ranks higher than other websites.
Just the day before yesterday, I searched for "college student union" in Baidu, and my website was ranked on the homepage of Baidu. I was very happy that this relatively popular keyword was ranked on the homepage. But the good times didn't last long. After only two or three days, I searched for "College Student Union" again. Not to mention the Baidu homepage, I didn't know where it was on my website. I browsed for a long time and couldn't find it. However, there is still a "Wanzhou University Student Union" in the relevant search below (as shown below), which really makes me happy and sad!
Maybe this is nothing to you, but for a new website owner like me, and a completely honest website owner, it is completely unfair! I have always believed that efforts will always be rewarded, but I paid So much, but such a reward!
Baidu, can't you be fair? You make my rankings go up and down, and my inclusions go up and down. You really treat my website like a monkey!
PS: If you don’t believe it, you can search “Wanzhou University Student Alliance” on Baidu. My website is the one with “Wanzhou’s Most Influential University Student Portal” after the title!
