In the past few days, a friend asked Xiao Han "How to build external links when optimizing corporate websites for SEO." This question may be asked by many SEO workers. Building external links is a very important part of our SEO work, but We see that many SEO friends have been complaining that external links are difficult to build, especially corporate websites with very few resources. And I have always emphasized the importance of the relevance and breadth of external links, so it seems really difficult to do, so here I will summarize my own experience and give you a reference.
First of all, external links must follow two principles: relevance and breadth.
What is relevance? Relevance means that the pages from which your website’s external links come from must be related to the theme of your website, preferably from the same industry. This includes website theme-related and page content-related.
What is breadth? Broadness means rich sources of external links, which also includes two points: the total number of external link domain names and the diversity of types.
So, based on these two points, we will formulate an external link construction plan for this corporate website. Divide into the following four steps:
1. List the methods of building external links
The first step is to list all the methods we already know about building external links, and then we will choose which ones to use based on the specific conditions of the corporate website. Here I will roughly list several types: industry websites, industry forums, blogs, friendly links, link bait, etc.
After the link methods are listed, we make a selection. Based on the principle of breadth and diversification, we must use them comprehensively. For example, we have determined to use industry B2B platforms, information platforms, forums, blogs and friendly links to carry out our business. Website external link building. (The choice of link bait depends on the actual situation, so I won’t talk about it here for now. I will explain it in detail in an article later.)
2. Find external link resources
In the second step, we search for external link resources based on the selected external link method. Based on the principle of relevance, we use Excel tables to record all industry B2B platforms, information platforms, related industry forums, and blog platforms, and also record what we currently have on hand. You can switch to friendly link websites or other websites you already have.
3. Implement link building plan
Next, we begin the execution process of our entire external link construction. This process is hard and boring, but it is necessary (some SEO classmates may say why SEO is so tiring, and it is so troublesome to always send out external links. It is really laborious. I will discuss this with you tomorrow.). First, after analyzing and evaluating the keywords, we can roughly get the competition level of the website, and then formulate an external link plan based on the strength of the competition. If the competition is very strong, a more comprehensive and long-term plan may be needed, such as implementing the sprocket strategy, pyramid Model. If the competition is average, just use the above comprehensive method to execute together.
4. Breakdown of link work
In the external link plan, we must first have a goal. If there is no goal, it will be difficult to accomplish anything. After we do a good competitor analysis in the early stage, and then combined with the situation of our own website, we can determine how many links we want to increase within a certain period of time. External links, this number is the target. Then we break it down into each resource, such as how many B2B platforms we need and how many friendly links we need. Only after this breakdown can we work in a planned way.
At the same time, we will refine each type of link work into daily work, and conduct reasonable data digitization to make our work more efficient. Later, when we analyze the performance of the website, we can clearly see the impact of each step of link work on SEO. What impact does the effect have? When a problem occurs, the cause can be quickly found.
5. Record data
Once the external link work begins, we must also record data every day, record the growth of the external link, whether it is included, the frequency of inclusion, etc., and learn to use these data to analyze the website. Although building external links is a hard job, we must learn to learn and think from it, instead of doing mechanical work, think about more efficient methods and analyze the weight of various resources.
Also remember that we are not creating spam information for the Internet, but giving our target users an entrance to learn more about our website. Therefore, starting from this point, we must grasp the quality of external links.
