To rise to 6 stars: you need a 5-star general + the same 5-star general + the designated 5-star general + any 3 5-star generals. The next 3 random 5-star generals must belong to the same country as the upgraded general. Don't.
Upgrade to 7 stars: 6-star generals + 4 five-star generals
Upgrade to 8 stars: 7-star general + 3 5-star generals + 1 6-star general
Upgrade to 9 stars: 8-star general + 1 identical 5-star general + 2 5-star generals + 1 6-star general
Upgrade to 10 stars: 9-star general + 2 identical 5-star generals + 1 6-star general + 1 9-star general
