Consider the following scenario: - Install a feature in System Properties or in Control Panel, click Get new versions of Windows to use more features .
- Enter or purchase a key using the Add Features window for Windows 8 .
In this scenario, you cannot add this feature and start the restore operation.
Note After a restore operation, the computer will return to its previous state. However, the new functionality will no longer be available. Operation steps: To resolve this issue, install the update described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
- Swipe in from the right edge of the screen and click Search. Or, if you are using a mouse, point to the lower right corner of the screen and click Search.
- Type services.msc and then tap or click Services in the search results.
- Tap or double-click Nalpeiron Licensing Services or NLS.
- Tap or click Startup type and select Disabled.
- Please tap or click OK.
- Restart the computer.
- Install the feature and then restart your computer.
- Repeat steps 1 through 3, and then change the startup type to Automatic for the Nalpeiron Authorization Service or for NLS.
- Click OK and then restart your computer.
