Age of Empires Mobile offers a fun and new way to experience MMOs, where you can recruit your favorite personalities from across history, and have them command your army. But, with over 30 different legendary hero choices, it can be quite confusing on which ones to choose, and how to properly build them. So, to help you out, we've created this complete guide on building and using every hero in Age of Empires Mobile.
Every hero in Age of Empires Mobile falls into one of three specializations: Warrior, Tactician, or Marshal. Based on this specialization, you get a different talent page, and you also need to choose different hero skills. So, here's the recommended build for every specialization:
While the above gives you a general idea of how to build your heroes, every hero still requires a bit of tweaking to get the most value. So, I've compiled a complete build for every hero based on their type.
Swordsmen-type heroes are one of the most common, yet also the most powerful ones in Age of Empires Mobile. Here are all the heroes in this type, their skill build, and talent page focus:
Hero | Skill 1 | Skill 2 | Talent Focus |
---|---|---|---|
King Arthur | High Spirit | Furious Charge | Might UP, Skill Damage UP |
Josephine | Double Attack | Weak Spot Attack | Might UP, Skill Damage UP |
King Derrick | Earth Crush | Righteous Judgement | Skill Attack Reduction, Normal Attack Reduction |
Cleopatra VII | Double Attack | Crushing Impact | Gathering Boost UP, Gathering Bonus UP |
Tokugawa Ieyasu | Peaceful Haven | Entrenchment | Skill Attack Reduction, Normal Attack Reduction |
Hammurabi | Siege and Plunder | Earth Crush | Siege UP, Armour UP |

Julius Caesar | Savage | King's Blade | Armour UP, Siege UP |
Heroes: King Arthur/Miyamoto Musashi (Leader), Tribhuwana/Hammurabi, King Derrick/Constantine the Great
King Arthur enters the 'Blessing of Glory' state after activating his signature skill; Tribhuwana greatly increases the activation chance of Arthur's signature while Derrick or Constantine provides a much-needed endurance boost to this offensive lineup.
Heroes: Sun Tzu (Leader), Philip IV/Cleopatra VII, Theodora
Sun Tzu deals massive damage especially in the 'Ultimate Strategist' state when the damage is doubled; Philip IV enhances the troop's DPS while Theodora provides both endurance and additional DPS boost. Overall, the synergy is high.
Heroes: Toyotomi Hideyoshi (Leader), Oda Nobunaga, Tokugawa Ieyasu
Toyotomi Hideyoshi deals good damage while boosting the signature skill damage of other heroes; Oda Nobunaga has consistent damage output from his skills which is boosted by Toyotomi, while Tokugawa is great at reducing damage taken and providing recovery for troops.
Cavalry heroes are a bit rarer than most other troop types and have a higher dependency on their commander than other troops as well. There are quite a few top tier hero picks here, so here are the skill builds and talent page focus for each of them.
Hero | Skill 1 | Skill 2 | Talent Focus |
---|---|---|---|
Ashoka | Weak Spot Attack | Act of Mercy | Recovery UP, Strategy UP |
Justinian the Great | War Tactic | Peaceful Haven | Strategy UP, Armour UP |
Rani Durgavati | Bloodthirst | King's Blade | Might UP, Normal Attack UP |
Guan Yu | Berserker | Fatal Blow | Might UP, Skill Damage UP |
Harald III | Bloodthirst | High Spirit | Might UP, Armour UP |
Tariq | Spirited Pursuit | Roar of Victory | Armour UP, Damage Reduction UP |
Hannibal | Double Attack | Crushing Impact | Strategy UP, Might UP |
Bushra | Tenacity | Peaceful Haven | Damage Reduction UP, Armour UP |
Cid | Double Attack | Roar of Victory | Normal Attack UP, Skill Damage UP |
Atilla the Hun | Weak Spot Attack | Critical Insight | Normal Attack UP, Damage Reduction UP |
Cleopatra VII | Double Attack | Crushing Impact | Strategy UP, Skill Damage UP |
Diao Chan | Windfall | Supplies Transportation | Gathering Boost UP, Gathering Bonus UP |
Darius the Great | Spirited Pursuit | Weak Spot Attack | Might UP, Damage Reduction UP |
Yi Seong-Gye | Bloodthirst | Battle Roar | Armour UP, Skill Damage UP |
Sejong the Great | Tenacity | Peaceful Haven | Armour UP, Damage Reduction UP |
Heroes: King Arthur/Guan Yu (Leader), Harald III/Darius the Great, Rani Durgavati/Attila the Hun
Arthur or Guan Yu can both deal significant damage as the core of this lineup with DPS and recovery support from Harald or Darius. To almost double the damage output, you can add Rani Durgavati or Atilla for their double attack buffs.
Heroes: Hannibal (Leader), Justinian the Great/Cleopatra, Ashoka/Attila the Hun
Hannibal's signature skill reduces enemy commander's strategy and defense and his passives decrease all enemy attributes. Upon activating his commander skill, he gains some of the reduced attributes from enemies. Justinian and Ashoka are there to ensure that Hannibal survives long enough to become almost unbeatable.
Heroes: Cid/Yi Seong-Gye (Leader), Tariq/Sejong the Great, Bushra/Tariq
Cid deals extra damage to slowed down enemies, while his signature skills inflict slow debuffs. Tariq significantly boost's the commander's DPS while Bushra provides endurance. Since it relies on debuffs, this lineup is ideal for field battles where debuffs are inflicted easily.
Archers are ideal for attack heroes, especially with burst skill damage or normal attack boosts. Among the eight hero choices, here is how you should build each of them.
Hero | Skill 1 | Skill 2 | Talent Focus |
---|---|---|---|
Atilla the Hun | Weak Spot Attack | Act of Mercy | Normal Attack UP, Might UP |
Josephine | Double Attack | Weak Spot Attack | Might UP, Skill Damage UP |
Hua Mulan | Weak Spot Attack | Act of Mercy | Skill Damage UP, Normal Attack UP |
King Derrick | Earth Crush | Righteous Judgement | Skill Damage UP, Armour UP |
Diao Chan | Supplies Transportation | Windfall | Siege UP, Gathering Boost UP |
Yi Sun-Shin | Conflagration | War Tactic | Strategy UP, Skill Damage UP |
Theodora | Conflagration | Immortal Army | Armour UP, Damage Reduction UP |
Rani Durgavati | Warrior's Hymn | Bloodthirst | Normal Attack UP, Might UP |
Queen Seondeok | Conflagration | War Tactic | Strategy UP, Skill Damage UP |
Warrior Lineup
Heroes: Hua Mulan/Josephine (Leader), Josephine/King Derrick, Attila the Hun/Rani Durgavati
Attila is the core because of his double attack buff on every hero; Mulan and Joesphine capitalize on that buff with their huge damage output from Normal Attacks. As such, this is one of the strongest offensive lineups in Age of Empires Mobile.
Tactician Lineup
Heroes: Yi Sun-Shin (Leader), Queen Seondeok, Theodora
Yi Sun-Shin can deal tons of damage in a single attack, as well as increase the skill damage of the next hero. Queen Seondeok inflicts silence debuff on enemies ideal for controlling heroes that rely on active skills while synergizing with Yi Sun-Shin's secondary skill. Theodora provides endurance and constant recovery to this lineup viable for long fights as well.
Marshal Lineup
There are not enough viable heroes for a Marshal Archer lineup.
Pikemen heroes in Age of Empires Mobile, similar to Archer heroes, have limited choices but some of them are extremely strong. Regardless, here's how you should build them, in case you get any of them:
Hero | Skill 1 | Skill 2 | Talent Focus |
---|---|---|---|
Joan of Arc | King's Blade | Fearless Retribution | Might UP, Armour UP |
Darius the Great | Spirited Pursuit | Weak Spot Attack | Normal Attack UP, Armour UP |
Ashoka | Weak Spot Attack | Act of Mercy | Damage Reduction UP, Strategy UP |
Frederick Barbarossa | Peaceful Haven | Tenacity | Damage Reduction UP, Armour UP |
Richard I | Forceful Retaliation | Whirlwind Sweep | Might UP, Skill Damage UP |
Leonidas | Fearless Retribution | Whirlwind Sweep | Might UP, Skill Damage UP |
Bushra | Tenacity | Peaceful Haven | Damage Reduction UP, Skill Damage UP |
Octavius | King's Blade | Whirlwind Sweep | Armour UP, Strategy UP |
Julius Caesar | Savage | King's Blade | Normal Attack UP, Skill Damage UP |
Heroes: Richard I/Leonidas (Leader), Leonidas/Joan of Arc, Frederick Barbarossa/Darius the Great
Ideal for taking on multiple armies at once, with Frederick providing strong defense and huge damage reduction. Leonidas and Joan of Arc trigger Counter attack skills while Richard provides an all-rounded boost for Pikemen heroes.
There are not enough Tactician Pikemen heroes for a lineup.
Heroes: Julius Caesar (Leader), Octavian, Bushra
The core of this lineup is Octavian because he increases the damage every time the other heroes use their signature skills. Every nine seconds Julius and Bushra deal an additional instance of signature skill damage and recovery, further increasing the DPS increase. Ideal for long fights.
