On September 10, the Scientific Research Ethics Committee of the Chinese Academy of Sciences publicly released the "Integrity Reminder on the Standardized Use of Artificial Intelligence Technology in Scientific Research Activities" (hereinafter referred to as the "Integrity Reminder") to remind scientific and technological personnel and students of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In recent years, the rapid development and widespread application of artificial intelligence technology have brought new changes and innovations to scientific research, while also posing severe challenges to existing practices that support scientific research integrity. For example, using artificial intelligence algorithms to falsify data and generate deceptive research papers can easily lead to new forms of academic misconduct such as ghostwriting, plagiarism, and manuscript cleaning, which greatly damages the credibility of scientific research. The "Integrity Reminder" was organized by the Scientific Research Ethics Committee of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and internal and external experts to focus on possible problems and challenges in the application of artificial intelligence technology in the entire process of scientific research activities. It was formed after in-depth discussions and extensive solicitation of opinions. It consists of eight articles. This is the seventh consecutive year since 2018 that the Scientific Research Ethics Committee of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has issued integrity reminders, focusing on key aspects such as academic review, recommendation for science and technology awards, release of academic results, original records of scientific research, scientific research ethics, and signature of papers, advocating and calling on scientific researchers. Honesty and trustworthiness elicited a positive response. The "Integrity Reminder" clarifies that during topic selection research, literature retrieval, and data collection, artificial intelligence technology can be used to track research trends, collect and organize references, and identify the authenticity, accuracy, and reliability of the information generated by artificial intelligence; It is opposed to the direct use of unverified research reports, topic suggestions, literature reviews, etc. generated by artificial intelligence. When writing application materials, if you use content generated by artificial intelligence, you should be responsible for the content and fully and truthfully declare the use; you are opposed to the direct use of unverified application materials generated by artificial intelligence. When collecting and using data, if simulation data, test data, etc. generated by artificial intelligence are used, or artificial intelligence technology is used to conduct statistical analysis of raw data, the use should be fully and truthfully declared; it is opposed to using data generated by artificial intelligence as experimental data. When producing audio, video and graphics, artificial intelligence technology can be used to assist. The generated content should be labeled and the usage fully and truthfully declared. It is opposed to using artificial intelligence to directly generate audio, video and graphics. When writing results, artificial intelligence technology can be used to assist in sorting out existing theories, materials, methods, etc., and can be used for language polishing, translation, and standardization checks; it is opposed to using artificial intelligence to generate content as the core innovation achievement, and to using artificial intelligence to generate the entire article. Results and references. In peer review, it is opposed to using artificial intelligence technology to write peer review opinions, and review information must not be uploaded to tool platforms that are not approved by the review organizer. In scientific research activities, if artificial intelligence technology is used, the name, version, date and usage process of the tool should be stated in the notes, acknowledgments, references or appendices; direct use without a statement is opposed. When choosing artificial intelligence technology, you should use service tools that have been registered by the state; oppose the abuse of artificial intelligence technology to endanger data security, infringe on intellectual property rights, leak personal privacy, etc.
