Software maker Adobe said on Wednesday it will launch a new artificial intelligence-based generative video creation and editing tool later this year to strengthen its suite of applications for creative professionals. The artificial intelligence tool, called Adobe firefly Video Model, will be released in beta form and will join the existing Firefly family of image generation applications, allowing users to generate still images, designs and vector graphics.
The model will give Adobe a foothold in the growing market for AI-based video generation tools. Alexandru Costin, vice president of generative artificial intelligence at Adobe, said the tool can generate a five-second clip based on a text or image prompt, and users can also specify the desired camera angle, pan, movement and zoom. Additionally, Adobe said the video model was trained on public domain or licensed content, not on any Adobe customer content.
