The editor of Downcodes learned that Apple has pushed the iOS 18.2 beta update to iOS public beta users. The update brings highly anticipated AI features, including Genmoji AI emoji generator, Image Playground AI image generation app, ChatGPT integrated with Siri, and visual search for iPhone 16, among others. These features that were previously only available to developers are now open to ordinary users to experience, and some features require joining the waiting list.
Apple recently released a beta version of iOS 18.2 to its public beta users. This latest version of the mobile operating system introduces several exciting features, including the AI emoji generator app Genmoji, the Image Playground AI image app, ChatGPT integration with Siri, and visual search using the iPhone 16 camera.
These features were previously only available to developers, but now consumers can experience them as well. It’s worth noting that some features require joining a waiting list to use them.
The AI features and tools on the new iPhone 16 and other supported devices are called Apple Intelligence, which can be referred to as "AI" for short. The large-scale language model-driven technology promises to provide users with smarter Siri, writing and proofreading help across apps, image generation capabilities, and more. Third-party developers will also be able to take advantage of Apple Intelligence capabilities in their own applications.

Users can ask Siri to display information within an app or take action on content displayed on the screen. Apple said its AI technology will first be applied to specific categories of apps, including books, browsers, cameras, document readers, file management, diary, mail, photos, presentations, spreadsheets, whiteboards and word processors.
Image Playground launches a standalone image-generating app that lets you create new images with prompts. Genmoji offers a similar system for creating custom emojis. Image Wand can convert sketches in your notes into AI-generated images.
Using Siri, users can enable the new ChatGPT extension, giving Apple's virtual assistant even more functionality. For example, you can ask ChatGPT to help you write text, answer questions, create images, and more. If logged in, it can also save your request history. Paid subscribers also have access to ChatGPT’s premium features available with their membership.
iPhone 16 users can also press the new Camera Control button to activate "Visual Intelligence," a way to search and identify real-world objects and places through the camera lens.
However, for those eager to try Apple Intelligence, some features will still have to wait a while. Apple Intelligence must be enabled first (as it is not enabled by default), and then users must register for additional image creation features to gain access. Apple hasn't said how long users will have to wait to gain access, but it could be days or even weeks during this testing period.
Apple launched AI features such as writing tools and notification summaries powered by Apple Intelligence in iOS 18.1, and debuted a new look for Siri with glowing screen edges.
In addition to the iOS 18.2 beta, Apple also released the first public beta versions of iPadOS 18.2, macOS Sequoia 15.2 and tvOS 18.2.
All in all, the iOS 18.2 beta brings many innovative AI-based features to users, improving the user experience. Although some features have to wait, Apple’s continued advancement of the application of AI technology is worth looking forward to. The editor of Downcodes will continue to pay attention to subsequent updates, so stay tuned!
