The Cosmos Institute is committed to cultivating a new generation of technology talents and entrepreneurs with the ability to think deeply. Its founding members include Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark and former Department of Defense technology expert Brandon McCord. They aim to guide people to balance technological innovation and humanistic care in the era of artificial intelligence. The college established the "Human Center AI Laboratory" at Oxford University and launched the "Universe Scholarship" and "Universe Venture Capital" projects, aiming to promote the development of AI technology in a more humane and ethical direction. These initiatives will inject new vitality into the AI field and promote the deep integration of AI technology and philosophy.

The Cosmos Institute has established a new laboratory called the Human-Centered AI Lab (HAI Lab) at the University of Oxford. This will be led by Oxford University philosopher Philipp Koralus, and the lab's mission is to translate philosophical principles of human flourishing into open source software and AI systems. Although it is not yet clear how to achieve this goal, the academy hopes to create an AI technology that respects human dignity and avoids negative impacts such as unemployment caused by automation.
In addition to the laboratory, the Cosmos Institute has also launched a program called the "Cosmos Fellowship", which will initially recruit four scholarship recipients. Recipients of these scholarships will work in HAI Lab or other partner institutions, collaborate with mentors, conduct independent project research, and explore the intersection of AI technology and philosophy.
In addition, the Cosmos Institute has launched a venture capital program called Cosmos Ventures. This project is led by former DeepMind product lead Jason Zhao and others, and is designed to support some challenging new prototypes, papers, and creative projects. Investments range from US$1,000 to US$10,000, and all projects are required to deliver significant results within three months.
Although the Cosmos Institute is not the first organization to try to promote the development of more humane and ethical AI, its goals are particularly important.
Highlight:
The Institute of Universe Science and Technology has established an AI laboratory to focus on the development of AI technology in humanistic centers.
? Launched the “Cosmos Scholarship” to support independent project research in collaboration with mentors.
? Establish "Cosmic Venture Capital" to fund innovative projects to explore issues in the philosophy of science and technology.
A series of initiatives by the Cosmos Institute have pointed out a new direction for the development of artificial intelligence technology. Its emphasis on humanistic care will help avoid the negative effects of the abuse of artificial intelligence technology and ultimately promote the sustainable development of human society. We look forward to seeing many more impressive achievements from the College in the future.
