Microsoft officially launched its facial recognition technology Face Check to provide corporate customers with more secure and reliable identity authentication services. Face Check combines mobile phone selfies with verified identity photos to effectively prevent cybercriminals from attacking through insecure authentication methods. Especially in the context of the rapid development of generative AI and traditional verification methods that are easily bypassed, Face Check's Appearance is particularly important. This technology is not only able to effectively resist various deception methods including deep forgery, but also takes full consideration into protecting user privacy, only sharing matching results and not involving sensitive identity data.
Microsoft officially announced today that its facial recognition technology Face Check has been fully opened to all enterprise customers. This technology provides enterprises with more secure and reliable identity authentication services by combining users’ mobile phone selfies with verified identity photos.
Face Check technology debuted in February this year and has been integrated into Microsoft's Entra digital identity service. Microsoft points out that 65% of cybercriminal attack paths involve insecure authentication methods. With the rapid development of generative AI, traditional digital identity systems are facing increasing threats. Criminals can easily bypass common verification methods such as CAPTCHA or personal information questions, increasing the importance of identity verification.
Face Check effectively solves this problem by comparing a user’s mobile selfie with a verified photo of their identity, such as a passport photo. Microsoft particularly emphasized that Face Check technology only shares matching results and does not involve sensitive identity data. It protects user privacy while improving the company's identity verification capabilities. In addition, this technology can also effectively resist various deception methods including deep forgery, ensuring user identity security in all aspects.
Enterprises can purchase the Face Check service separately, and each verification costs US$0.25 (approximately RMB 1.8). In addition, Face Check is also part of Microsoft's Entra Suite. Enterprises can try Entra Suite for free, which includes 8 free Face Check verifications per month.
The launch of Face Check marks an important step for Microsoft in the field of identity authentication security, providing enterprises with a safer and more reliable solution, and also demonstrating Microsoft's commitment to protecting user privacy. This technology is expected to be widely used in various industries in the future due to its high security, low cost and convenience.
