PepsiCo unveiled two striking innovations at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity designed to redefine brand engagement and consumer experience. One is a smart tank equipped with an all-round 3D screen, and the other is Anna, an AI-driven "hydration coach" chatbot. These products not only reflect PepsiCo's bold attempts in technology application, but also herald the innovative direction of the brand's future marketing strategy, cleverly combining digital technology with brand promotion to bring consumers a refreshing experience.
PepsiCo launched smart cans at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity in France. These cans are equipped with omnidirectional 3D screens that display high-definition video content to reimagine brand engagement promotional products.
Developed over two years, these smart cans are "brand portals" that can display content such as brand advertising and sports. They weigh 16 ounces but contain no liquid - the cans are a concept product designed to showcase Pepsi's "new visual identity." The jars are designed to reimagine promotional products, with Pepsi saying they "challenge and reward those who crave more, with exclusive content and membership to a global network of creators."
These smart cans feature motion sensors, accelerometers and sound technology, allowing users to customize their experience. They are connected devices that allow smart tank users to interact and share unique product codes. The jars are not currently available in stores. The first 1,000 content creators will receive a smart jar to create videos that can be displayed on the jar.
The cans were developed by PepsiCo's beverage design team in Ireland, who wanted to incorporate and create a brand portal that would draw people back through unbridled enjoyment.
PepsiCo also showcased an AI chatbot called "Anna" at the event, an AI-powered "hydration coach" that can answer users' questions about hydration needs through a touch screen. Anna is trained with data and insights from the Gatorade Sports Science Institute, which studies hydration and nutrition to help athletes.
