The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is about to undergo a major technology upgrade. It is reported that the agency plans to sign a contract worth approximately US$70 million with Accenture to develop an advanced artificial intelligence patent search tool. This will significantly improve the efficiency and modernization level of patent examination, marking an important step towards artificial intelligence assistance in the US patent examination system. The project covers the development of new systems as well as maintenance and functional upgrades of existing systems. It is expected to be officially signed before April 1.
The cooperation between the USPTO and Accenture will use artificial intelligence technology to innovate the patent search process, which will not only improve the efficiency of patent review, but also reduce human errors and ensure the accuracy and fairness of patent review. This huge investment reflects the U.S. government’s emphasis on the application of artificial intelligence technology in public services, and also heralds earth-shaking changes in the field of patent review in the future. The successful signing of the contract will bring new vitality to the patent examination work and promote intellectual property protection into a more efficient and precise era.
