Text: At the 2025 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES2025), the start-up company WeWalk launched its latest product-Smart Cane2. This smart cane combines a blind cane with the advanced ChatGPT voice assistant, aiming to provide more convenient services for the visually impaired. Safer and more convenient travel experience.
WeWalk co-founder Kursat Ceylan himself is a visually impaired person who has been blind since childhood. Ceylan said that Smart Cane2 was originally designed to improve mobile safety and convenience for visually impaired people. This walking stick not only has turn-by-turn navigation and obstacle detection functions, but also seamlessly integrates with the ChatGPT voice assistant, allowing users to easily obtain information about the surrounding environment while traveling.
Compared with the previous generation product, Smart Cane2 has a slimmer handle, a more comfortable feel, and is about the same weight as a traditional white blind cane. This new cane is also equipped with tactile buttons, which avoids the complicated touchpad of the previous generation product and is more user-friendly. At the same time, the product is designed with various weather conditions in mind and is rainproof to ensure a comfortable use experience in different environments.
In addition to basic navigation and obstacle detection functions, Smart Cane2 also has built-in speakers and microphones, as well as motion sensors, which can provide a more accurate navigation experience. Ceylan pointed out that users can put their smartphones in their pockets without holding them in their hands and obtain all the information they need for walking through Smart Cane2, which greatly frees up their hands and makes travel easier.
Currently, Smart Cane2 has opened for pre-order, and the first batch of products is expected to be shipped before the end of this month. Consumers can choose from two purchase methods: $850 (approximately RMB 6,240) plus a monthly voice assistant subscription fee of $4.99 (approximately RMB 36.6), or pay the full amount of $1,150 (approximately RMB 8,442) without additional subscriptions .
The release of WeWalk Smart Cane2 marks the further extension of technology into the field of disability assistance, providing more choices and convenience for visually impaired people to travel. People are looking forward to the positive impact this product will bring.
The launch of Smart Cane2 not only represents technological progress, but also reflects care and understanding for the visually impaired. I believe that more similar technological products will be released in the future to create a more convenient and better life for people with disabilities.
