Apple has released the public beta version of iOS 18.2, bringing many new features based on Apple Intelligence (AI). The update includes the highly anticipated AI emoji generator Genmoji, the AI image app Image Playground, ChatGPT integrated with Siri, and visual search with the iPhone 16 camera, etc. These features were previously only available to developers, but are now open to the public, and some features need to be added to the waiting list.
Apple recently released a beta version of iOS 18.2 to its public beta users. This latest mobile operating system version introduces several exciting features, including the AI emoji generator app Genmoji, Image Playground AI image app, ChatGPT integration with Siri, and visual search using iPhone16 cameras.
These features were previously only for developers, but now consumers can also experience them. It is worth noting that certain features need to be added to the waiting list before they can be used.
AI features and tools on the new iPhone 16 and other supported devices are called Apple Intelligence, which can be referred to as "AI". Large language model-driven technology promises to provide users with smarter Siri, cross-application writing and proofreading help, and image generation capabilities. Third-party developers will also be able to take advantage of Apple Intelligence capabilities in their own applications.

Users can ask Siri to display information inside the application or take action on what is displayed on the screen. Apple said its AI technology will first be applied to specific categories of applications, including books, browsers, cameras, document readers, file management, diaries, emails, photos, presentations, spreadsheets, whiteboards and word processors.
Image Playground has launched a standalone image generation app where you can create new images with prompts. Genmoji provides a similar system to create custom emojis. Image Wand can convert sketches from your notes into AI-generated images.
With Siri, users can enable the new ChatGPT extension to provide more features to Apple's virtual assistant. For example, you can ask ChatGPT to help you write text, answer questions, create images, and more. If logged in, it can also save your request history. Paid subscribers can also use the ChatGPT advanced features offered by their membership.
iPhone 16 users can also press the new "Camera Control" button to activate "Visual Intelligence", a way to search and identify real-world objects and locations through camera lenses.
However, for those eager to try Apple Intelligence, some features still need to wait for a while. Apple Intelligence must be enabled first (as it is not enabled by default) and then the user must register for additional image creation features to gain access. Apple has not stated how long it will take for users to get access, but it may have to wait a few days or even weeks during this testing period.
Apple has introduced AI features such as writing tools and notification summary powered by Apple Intelligence in iOS 18.1, and has launched the new look of Siri, with the screen edge glowing for the first time.
In addition to the iOS18.2 beta version, Apple has also released the first public beta versions of iPadOS18.2, macOS Sequoia15.2 and tvOS18.2.
In short, iOS 18.2 beta brings powerful AI features to users, but some features still need to be waited. Apple continues to promote the construction of its AI ecosystem, and it is worth looking forward to the subsequent updates to bring more surprises.
