Cohere recently released its latest artificial intelligence platform "North", an innovative product designed to provide enterprise users with a safe and efficient working environment, directly benchmarking Microsoft's Copilot and Google's Vertex AI. Cohere stressed that "North" outperforms its competitors in various fields such as finance, human resources, customer support and IT, demonstrating its strong potential in enterprise-level AI solutions.
The “North” platform combines large language models, advanced search capabilities and automation tools to provide enterprises with a secure and controllable AI deployment environment. The platform supports private cloud and on-premises installations, and is optimized for highly regulated industries such as finance and medical care, ensuring that companies can fully control their sensitive data while using AI technology.
According to Cohere's internal test results, although Microsoft's Copilot and Google's Vertex AI performed well in automated testing, "North" always maintained higher accuracy and stability in manual evaluation. "The AI market is maturing rapidly and companies are gradually recognizing the great potential of this technology," Cohere CEO Aidan Gomez said in an internal letter.
Royal Bank of Canada has reached a partnership with Cohere to jointly develop a dedicated version of the financial industry of the "North" platform. This cooperation marks the first major application of "North" in enterprises, demonstrating its unique advantages in the financial field.
"North"'s built-in Compass search system can handle a variety of data types, including images, presentations, spreadsheets, and documents, and supports multilingual operations. Internal tests show that the time to complete tasks using Compass is more than 80% shorter than traditional manual search, greatly improving the work efficiency of the company.
Gomez pointed out that businesses need more than just a simply tuned consumer-grade AI chatbot, but a partner that can truly meet their needs. He said Cohere "North" performed particularly well in finance and IT businesses, compared with Microsoft's Copilot's accuracy rate in IT tasks at only 29%.
As companies' demand for AI technology continues to grow, the launch of Cohere "North" is expected to change the way companies implement AI technology. Gomez stressed that every company will become an AI company in the future, so fast, secure and deployable solutions are needed.
Currently, "North" is opening up to industries such as finance, healthcare, manufacturing and critical infrastructure through early access procedures. Cohere hopes to reshape the AI application of enterprises in security and customization through this platform and promote the widespread application of AI technology in enterprises.
