Every month I come into contact with a large number of websites - small, large, some made by us, and some outsourced by companies. An extensive investigation was conducted on small business websites that were not functioning properly. I have listed the most common problems in the following 6 categories:
1. Copy content
There are some types of copied content. The most common type of copied page is duplication of page title and page description tags.
Many times, this problem is not actually intentional - the brand name is repeated in the title of page after page, or happens to be repeated in the description tag of all pages of a website. Search engines will find these duplicate description tags, and sometimes search engines will determine that this is a duplicate page before getting the actual page content. This is more likely to happen on pages that don't have much text support.
On the other hand, this will give search engines a wrong impression of your website, and you may miss important opportunities to optimize your web pages and let keywords bring high-quality visits to the website.
Many times, duplicate pages are not created by accident, many different software platforms create duplicate pages without you noticing.
If your website is built using WordPress, it is very innocent. The independent pages of your website will have duplicate content such as archive pages and category pages. WordPress is a great platform, but if it is not set up correctly, there will still be some small flaws. . So you need to read and find forums like Search Engine Watch that can help you customize your website to eliminate duplicate content.
2. Start working without doing keyword analysis
Keyword analysis is the basis for good search engine marketing. Starting CPC promotion based on only guessed keywords will be detrimental to your website ranking. If possible, keyword analysis should be completed before the website is built. There are a variety of keyword analysis tools that can help you get a clear idea of what your users are looking for. Wordtracker and Keyword Discovery both have free versions. You can also try the tools on SEObook or the keyword analysis tool of Google AdWords.
3. Wrong login page
If you're doing paid advertising, the most important thing is to get traffic to your planned page, or at least your landing page, to satisfy searchers. I often see certain ppc ads and banner ads that bring searchers to the homepage of the website - a page that does not provide what the searcher is looking for.
For example: Suppose I'm searching for "Hilton first class 3-person room rate." If the ad takes me to the homepage of the website, I still have to search again after I have stated my needs. The best landing page for this pcc ad is to give a list of room rates for all first class triple rooms at Hilton.
4. Ignoring link building
If you are trying to drive organic traffic to your website (without PPC), placing the right keywords on the right pages is the best way to do the job. The Google algorithm values off-site links - of course not all links are created equal.
If you place keywords on your pages but don’t use quality text links on those pages for link building. You’ll miss out on opportunities to improve your website rankings and drive traffic to your website. There are tons of different ways to do link building, and I recommend reading Link Love columns, a weekly column hosted by Sage Lesis and Justilien Gaspard on Search Engine Watch for great tips.
5. Troubled by ranking and PR value
These are two very different questions. But because a large number of webmasters are troubled by the two, they will be discussed together in this article. Short-term first place is not your goal - sorry, that's not what you focus your energy on, and having a PR6 is far from your goal.
Are you making money? Is the return on investment on search making you more? Obsessing over that little green bar or the ranking you listed will sooner or later break you. In some or more cases, being in third place can make you just as much money as being in first place. I'm not saying that ranking doesn't matter - because in theory, being in the top six search results can be your goal - but if you are distressed because you are third and not first, then you are doing something unworthy. distressed.
6. The mentality of forgetting once you’re done
It is short-sighted to think that you have optimized your website and then left it alone. Pay-per-click accounts and advertising can save a lot of money if you don't set up the system - if you don't monitor it, there is no return.
There is no "magic formula" that will get you ranked number one, and if you follow these three rules, you can stay away from it. Some websites require higher keyword density - optimizing your pages for very competitive keywords will require more high-quality links to get the traffic you need to make money online.
These problems are all solvable - they're just the six most common ones I see. It's important that you know what the pros and cons are of what you're doing and what you know, and how you can exit your online business. Search engine marketing is an ongoing process that requires both art and science - taking the time to do things the right way.
