Cai Wenji, formerly known as Cai Yan, was born in a scholarly family. Her father Cai Yong was a famous scholar in the Eastern Han Dynasty. The erudite and conceited Cai Yong offended the authoritarian eunuch in his early years and was sent to the border. After Dong Zhuo took power, in order to win over people's hearts and gain false reputation, he recalled Cai Yong and promoted him to three levels. Dong Zhuo, who made his fortune by fighting, not only consolidated the government into one, but also deposed the Han emperor without authorization, extorted and exploited the people, and forced the residents of Luoyang to move to the new capital Chang'an. For a time, the people were filled with resentment and everyone wanted to get rid of him.
According to "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms", Situ Wangyun first presented Diao Chan with the appearance of the closed moon (it is said that when she worshiped the moon, the moon hid in the clouds and did not dare to compete with her) to Dong Zhuo, and secretly betrothed Diao Chan to Dong Zhuo's most trusted man. His subordinate general Lu Bu made the two jealous and turned against each other. They used Lu Bu's help to get rid of Dong Zhuo. After Dong Zhuo's death, Cai Yong, who was in a high position, was regarded as Dong Zhuo's accomplice and died unjustly in prison. Later, Dong Zhuo's generals rebelled, a melee broke out in Guanzhong, and Chang'an became a ghost town. Cai Wenji, who wandered with the refugees, was kidnapped by the Huns cavalry who took advantage of the situation. Cai Wenji, who was hiding among the refugees, was dressed in rags and had unkempt hair, but she still couldn't hide her elegant and elegant temperament. King Zuo Xian fell in love with her at first sight and immediately took her as his wife. The 23-year-old Cai Wenji lived in the Xiongnu for twelve years and gave birth to two sons for King Zuo Xian: Adiguai and Ameigai. But Cai Wenji never dreamed that there was someone in the Central Plains who cared about her, and it was Cao Cao who could already give orders to the Huns.
In the thirteenth year of Jian'an (208) of Emperor Xian of the Han Dynasty, Liu Xie, Cao Cao sent an envoy Zhou Jin to the Southern Xiongnu with a thousand taels of gold and a pair of white jade to ask King Zuo Xian for the daughter of his friend Cai Yong. King Zuo Xian did not dare to disobey Cao Cao's will, so he had to let his beloved wife return home. Twelve years of living in Hu Di have made Cai Wenji no longer afraid of wind, frost, rain and snow, but who knows the boundless desolation in her heart? She had to leave and stay, and faced the dilemma of choosing between her children and her motherland, she wanted to cry but had no tears. The 35-year-old Cai Wenji boarded the car in a daze at the urging of the Han envoy. As the wheels turn, twelve years of ups and downs pour into my heart.
She wrote the famous "Eighteen Beats of Hu Jia" (also known as "Hu Jia Ming") with blood and tears. This is an eternal masterpiece that makes people sit upright and shake their heads. A series of ups and downs such as being taken into captivity, homesickness, separation, and returning to the Han Dynasty all turned into blood and tears: "If God has eyes, why don't you see me wandering alone? If God has spirit, what should I do with me in the South China Sea?" Beitou? If I don't live up to the sky, how can the sky match me? If I don't live up to the gods, why should I cross the barren state? "I am so happy to be alive and meet the Holy King, and I say goodbye to the childish child for no reason. There are two times out of ten that I have both sorrow and joy. It is difficult to express the two feelings when I go to live." "At sixteen times, my thoughts are confused, and my son and I are on separate sides. The sun in the east and the moon in the west look at each other, and we can't help but feel empty and heartbroken." The talented Cai Wenji returned to Yecheng and immediately won the respect of both the government and the public. At the age of 35, she was married to Dong Si, the commander of the army, at Cao Cao's discretion. Cai Wenji also wrote down the classic articles passed down by her father from memory, leaving a precious spiritual legacy for the Wei State.
However, today, what is very different from the repeated renovation of Zhaojun's tomb is that we can hardly find any interesting cultural relics in Cai Wenji's hometown - Yu Town, Qixian County, Henan Province. There is only one that is obviously not worthy of mention. The exquisite white marble statue of Cai Wenji stands on the dusty cross street, but her favorite Cai family garden is full of decayed walls and dead leaves.
