3. Companies that support XML and their development tools
Although XML is still in the development stage and its standards are being formulated by the W3C organization, many companies have expressed their full support for XML and have developed many XML tools. Adobe's FrameMaker can be used to write XML documents. IE 4.0 launched by Microsoft can already display, process and edit XML documents. Microsoft has made a commitment to support XML in the next version of Office software such as MS Word and Excel.
Netscape and Sun are not willing to be left alone, and have expressed their intention to support XML in their Web tools. In addition to the actions of these well-known companies, other small companies also regard XML as a business opportunity and have invested in the development of XML. For example, ArborText's Cedar project aims to develop XSL; ArborText and Microsoft jointly proposed a draft standard for XSL to W3C; Grif's Symposia Doc+ is a visible and available tool for editing XML documents.
In addition, there are Copsol's XML development tools, Norbert's XML syntax analyzer, Jade's XSL toolkit, and Serucie 98 that supports client/server applications, etc.
