I often go to a5 and read a lot of articles about website construction every day. I found a problem. Websites are in an isolated state and are not combined with reality. That is to say, online and offline are not combined. To develop a website, it must be operated both online and offline. Of course, there must be overall planning in operation. Only by knowing how to coordinate and plan operations can the website be invincible.
Three years ago, when I was in school, a team of ours founded Wangdou.com, which was affiliated to the school’s Network Information Center. In just one year, it became one of the school’s four major online media, with a maximum daily visit count of 110,000.
How we achieved this result in a short period of time is inseparable from our overall planning and management. At the beginning of the establishment of the website, we made an overall plan for the website. We developed the website within two months, matured the website within half a year, and turned it into a campus portal within a year.
At that time, in 2006, shortly after web2.0 was proposed, we set "interactivity" as the biggest feature of the website. The main columns of the website were campus news, film and television, community, blogs, electronic magazines, audio literature, etc.
In order to expand the influence of the website, we have carried out a series of plans for website development. Mainly from the following aspects:
1.Logo design competition
Through the logo design competition, the website mobilized enthusiasm for participating in website construction, expanded the website's influence, and saved labor costs.
2. Online Host Competition
The online host competition is the largest event held by the website, which mainly promotes audio literature columns. The online host competition took two full months, one month of planning and preparation, and one month of implementation and hosting. The event consisted of five links: registration, program recording, online voting, preliminaries, and finals. Each link was fully tracked and reported on the website. The online voting during the finals reached 110,000 daily visits. This event not only brought the website to a big level and laid the foundation of online media, but also brought considerable income to the website. For that event, we successfully found a sponsor, Foxconn, and not only received all the funds for the website to hold the event, but also allowed all members to go on a trip.
3. Movie screening
The main columns of the website include film and television, which expands the influence of the website through film screenings and makes the film and television columns of the website irreplaceable in campus media.
4. Blog Contest
Holding a blog contest has enriched the content of the website, increased a large number of members, and popularized blog knowledge.
5.Special activities
The website launches real-time special topics according to every festival, every season, and every major event, enriching the content of the website, making it closer to students' lives and expanding its influence.
6. Media Campus Tour
Participating in the media campus tour confirmed the website’s status in campus media and has truly become one of the four major online media on campus.
Now I have graduated for a year and am working in other industries. I resigned not long ago and returned to my old career and embarked on the road of the Internet. I just made a website (www.dyouji.com). I hope that my website can also achieve impressive results in our management.
