The following is my application for DMOZ editor failed, but they still responded to my email! I hope friends who are willing to apply can use it as a reference:
XX XX Hello:
Thank you for your interest in becoming an editor for the Open Directory Project.
After careful consideration, we are unable to approve your application. Generally speaking, the reasons why reviewers reject editor applications include (but are not limited to) the following:
* The application form is incomplete. The information in some columns is incomplete, such as reasons for application, your associated websites, URL samples, etc.
* Inappropriate wording, grammar or punctuation.
* The URL sample provided is not suitable for inclusion in the requested category. They may be too broad, too narrow, or completely inappropriate; they may be of poor quality; or their language may not meet the category requirements. If you apply for the category below World: Chinese Simplified, but the URL sample provided contains a website with only non-Simplified Chinese content, your application will be rejected. Similarly, if you apply for the English category or other language categories below World, and any URL sample provided does not meet the language requirements of that category, your application will also be rejected.
* Failure to honestly and completely disclose all of your associated websites.
* The title or description of the website sample (or other information provided) tends to be subjective and promotional rather than objective and impartial. The role of an Open Directory editor is not to rank sites or write site reviews. Editors must be objective and impartial when describing a website and its content.
* Self-promotion. If the content of the application leads us to believe that the applicant's main purpose is to promote his own or a website related to him, the application will be rejected. The Open Directory is not a marketing tool; the public should not bypass the formal website submission process by becoming an editor. If this is the applicant's intention, we would advise him not to submit the application. Any editor found to be engaged in inappropriate promotion of his or her affiliated websites will be immediately dismissed.
Due to the large number of applications we receive every day, we are unable to provide a personal response to each application or explain the reasons for rejection. If the reviewer chooses to provide you with additional comments, these comments will be listed in the "Reviewer Comments" section below.
Thank you again for your willingness to join our volunteer work.
Yours sincerely, Open Directory Project.
Auditor comments:
Hello wenxuejie,
First of all, thank you for applying to the World/Chinese_Simplified/Art/Literature/Online Works Catalog and for your interest in serving as a volunteer editor for ODP. While we would love for you to join us, we regret to inform you that we are currently unable to approve your application.
You may have selected a directory that already has enough editors or is too broad, or the site description you gave does not meet the directory requirements. Generally speaking, for new editors, choosing a smaller directory allows them to better understand the directory, including how to find and list suitable editing sites, and give the sites appropriate descriptions and punctuation. After they have some experience in editing smaller directories, they can apply for editing in larger directories.
When we review applications, we will base them on whether the applicant will be able to begin formal editing, so it is important to submit high-quality sample sites with appropriate site description titles to demonstrate the applicant's interest in editing the site. understanding. For site submission and description requirements, you may refer to our editorial guidelines: http://dmoz.org/World/Chinese_Simplified/guidelines/.
We encourage you to read our editorial guidelines carefully and reapply to edit a category with fewer editors or a smaller category; submit sample sites that are not indexed by dmoz.org; choose to submit them to a most appropriate directory; Provide a serious and objective site title and description, etc., to increase your chances of being approved.
Please also honestly disclose all sites that are relevant to you in the application form.
Thanks again for your interest in ODP!
