Game introduction:
The Fallen Lord takes place thousands of years after the first game, introducing a brand new adventure in a massive, interconnected world that's more than five times larger than the first game. It's a hearty meaty experience filled with NPC quests, compelling characters, and a rich story.
Set in a vast, semi-open world, the extended demo gives players a glimpse into Lord of the Fallen's diverse and terrifying environments. Players are tasked with overthrowing the demon god Adyr. Each major area is connected to at least two other areas, and the order in which players explore these lands is largely up to them. However, players will need to survive in two worlds in this vast RPG experience, thanks to the game's unique dual realm mechanic.
In addition to the living world Axiom, there is also the corresponding world of the undead, Umbral. Each realm has its own unique paths, enemies, characters, and of course treasures. Players equipped with an Umbral lamp can travel to this parallel world at any time, however, doing so will consume one of their two lives. When a player dies in the world of the living, they will automatically be resurrected at the same location in the world of the dead for a last chance of survival...even if the odds are slim.
The gameplay demo also provided new details about the game's non-stop co-op feature. To invite a second player to join their adventure, players simply visit an in-game resting point (a ruin) and can choose to fight alongside a friend or a randomly selected player. As long as the player is willing, the partner will always be by the player's side. Another new gameplay element introduced by Lords of the Fallen is the ability for players to craft their own relics, although they can only be crafted in very select locations and require extremely rare resources.
The final video also showcases an overhauled combat system that seamlessly blends melee, magic, and ranged abilities. In addition to normal attacks, players can map up to four additional magic or ranged skills to the controller for immediate use. Not only does this greatly increase the variety of combat, allowing players to pull off almost endless combos, but it also quickly speeds up combat and reduces the need to change skills.
