如果伺服器上安裝了RAR程序，那麼asp.net可以呼叫RAR實作檔案壓縮與解壓縮。
不過要注意的是，由於Web程式不能直接呼叫客戶端的程式（除非用ActiveX，ActiveX幾乎被放棄），所以如果要實作讓使用者把本地檔案用網頁解壓縮只有把檔案上傳到伺服器上再呼叫伺服器上的RAR壓縮，同理要解壓縮本地的RAR檔案可以把檔案上傳到伺服器解壓縮再拿回來。
