Classical music often involves multiple musicians recording a work that has been recorded many times and had different titles. For example, from the formal Beethoven Piano Sonata No. 14 to the popular alias Moonlight Sonata, or in a different language, such as the German Mondschein Sonata. Such complexity means classical music fans have been underserved by streaming platforms. Until now, a unique app, included with an Apple Music subscription, gives these classical music lovers the editorial and catalog content they have been missing.

Apple's Apple Music Classical classical music app provides more than 5 million classical music tracks, which can be used for free on iOS 15.4 and higher as long as you have a basic Apple Music subscription. The app is based on Primephonic, a classical music streaming service acquired by Apple in 2021. This app is currently only available for iPhone and will be available soon.
Apple said that after acquiring Primephonic, Apple Music users will have a better classical music experience. This will reportedly start with Primephonic playlists and audio content, followed by a dedicated Primephonic experience, improved browsing and search capabilities by composer and repertoire, better classical music metadata, and more.
Most notably, Apple said it will launch a new Apple Music app dedicated to classical music in 2022. The app will combine Primephonic's user interface and classical music expertise with features like Apple Music and lossless and spatial audio.
