A driver is a piece of software that allows communication between a computer and a hardware device. For hardware that has been connected to the computer in the past, Windows 7 updated drivers may be available at a later date, but they will not be installed automatically. However, you can simply set Windows 7 to automatically download recommended drivers.
First, click Start → Control Panel → View Devices and Printers. Then, right-click the computer name and click Device Installation Settings (Figure 1).
Next, in the Device Installation Settings dialog box, click Yes, do this automatically (recommended), and then click the Save Changes button (Figure 2). If prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
To get all important and recommended updates for your computer and device, you need to make sure that Windows Update is enabled and set to "Install updates automatically (recommended). Fortunately, this is a feature that Windows Update in Windows 7 has turned on by default. But if you are not sure Whether it is turned on, you can go to "Control Panel → System and Security → Windows Update → Change Settings", then under "Important Updates", select "Install updates automatically (recommended)", and at the same time, under "Recommended Updates", select "With Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates" check box and click the OK button.
After the above settings, Windows 7 can automatically download and install the updated driver for the device. This is a good way to ensure that all hardware on the computer is working properly.
