I have always liked playing the game <> in the arcade, and then I downloaded the ROM of this game here. I thought I could relive the feeling of clearing the level with one coin.
As a result, I believe that many people are like me and have no idea how to set it up. Because the original version of this game was operated with a trackball, I set it up for a long time and couldn't get the cursor on the screen to move.
I have no choice but to play the pirated version (there are three games in the downloaded ROM, namely the US version SET1, the US version SET2, and the pirated version), because the pirated version supports joysticks, but the sound effects are really intolerable to me, especially when passing levels. The cheerful little tune at the end was completely gone!
After looking online, I found that there are many people like me. Is this all? Of course not. After repeated explorations, I finally discovered the secret:
The key is in the settings: set both "Trackball X Simulation" and "Trackball Y Simulation" to "Unavailable"
Then "trackball X decreases" corresponds to "left arrow or joystick left", "trackball X increases" corresponds to "right arrow or joystick right", "trackball Y decreases" corresponds to "up arrow or joystick up" "," Trackball Y adds "corresponding to "down arrow or rocker down".
After such settings, I can finally play this classic game with a joystick as I did back then, and hear the familiar cheerful tune again. Hahahaha!
Does the pirated version have a scroll button? I have never used it. When I played in the arcade, it was not the same without this button.
The rolling in the original version seems to be achieved through some other method, which I have never been able to figure out.
The pirated version of the music is really ugly. The music when beating the boss is not good at all, and the most important thing is that the ditty when passing the level is missing.
jjsnake:
mame already supports the joystick version, with a separate roll key. The earliest version supported by mame was the trackball version, which did not have a scroll key.
I tested the joystick master and slave roms, and the pirated and original versions have the same sound.
