Did you know you can customize your Windows 7 login screen without using third-party software?
In the two pictures above, the top is the default login screen, and the bottom is the changed login screen.
So how is it done? Let me briefly introduce it.
If your machine is an OEM machine, you may need to use the registry editor to find the following machine code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionAuthenticationLogonUIBackground
In this directory you may find a machine code with a numerical name of OEMBackground and a type of REG_DWORD. It is a Boolean type, 1 means enabled, 0 means disabled. However, this machine code may not exist on every machine by default because your machine is different.
After confirming the opening, please copy the pictures you want to display to the path %windir%system32oobeinfobackgrounds. Like the above machine code, this directory may not exist by default. If you have this directory, you will find the following files:
backgroundDefault.jpg
background768x1280.jpg
background900x1440.jpg
background960x1280.jpg
background1024x1280.jpg
background1280x1024.jpg
background1024x768.jpg
background1280x960.jpg
background1600x1200.jpg
background1440x900.jpg
background1920x1200.jpg
background1280x768.jp
background1360x768.jpg
Change the file name of the file you copied to one that matches your screen resolution, but please note that the file size must be less than 256 kb. And when starting up, your picture will be selected according to your screen resolution or ratio to select a file with a suitable resolution. If a suitable file cannot be found, backgroundDefault.jpg will be used for automatic adjustment.
If your image is not displayed (for example, the file is too large...), the system will automatically load the default image from imagesres.dll.
Please pay special attention to the fact that there are certain risks in modifying the machine code, so please be careful and it is best to back up the machine code before modifying it!
