Different optimization techniques and system setting techniques have different uses for different people. The problems that many people are trying to solve may not be useful to some friends at all. For example, when it comes to privacy protection, many friends only use their computers and seldom consider such situations. The search history issue of Windows 7 Explorer that I want to talk about today involves user privacy. The powerful search function of Windows 7 is quite easy to use, but the trouble is that all search history records will appear in the drop-down list box. If you are using a public computer, security and privacy will be a problem.
We can solve it in two ways, one manually and the other by using software. Note that if your system is Windows 7 Home Basic Edition, it is relatively simple to use third-party software to set it up.
1. Manually modify the Win7 system group policy settings
In the Windows 7 start menu, enter gpedit.msc in the "Search" box and press Enter to run (or Win key + R key to open the run window and enter it), open the "Local Group Policy Editor" window, and then open "User Configuration → Administrative Templates → Windows Components → Windows Explorer", find the "Turn off the display of recent search entries in the Windows Explorer search box" item in the right pane, double-click to open the properties window, select "Enabled" here, It will take effect after confirmation, and search records will no longer be automatically saved in the future.
Tip: Turning off search history will no longer display corresponding search suggestions when searching. In addition, if you need to delete the history in the address bar, just right-click the address bar and select the "Delete History" command from the shortcut menu to clean it up.
2. Use Win7 Optimization Master to disable these functions
If you are using Windows 7 Home Basic and there is no Group Policy, you can add this feature from Windows 7 Optimization Master 1.3 to prevent the system from automatically recording the search history of Explorer. Click "System Settings" at the top, then click "System Settings" on the left, "System Settings" on the right (this should be renamed Explorer Settings), and then check the last item: "Disable Explorer Search Records ”, finally don’t forget to click the “Save Settings” button in the lower right corner.
In this way, you can also prevent Windows 7 Explorer from recording search history and protect personal privacy.
