It has been a year since I established my first website. I unknowingly gave myself the "title" of "webmaster", which felt more or less flattering. When I didn’t have a website of my own, I wished I could have my own website in the vast online world. At that time, I never thought about what I would face and what I would need to be a personal webmaster, just like I hadn’t before. When I was using my mobile phone, I really wanted to own a mobile phone, but I never thought about things like paying a mobile phone bill for a mobile phone. It should be said that I am not a successful personal webmaster, nor a powerful personal webmaster. So far, few people are interested in my website, and the pitiful advertising fees make me smile bitterly. So today I will discuss with you what conditions you need to meet as a personal webmaster.
First, there must be at least 5 mailboxes
Some people will definitely ask, one mailbox is enough, why do you need so many? I believe many old Internet users will laugh. Putting aside the webmaster, people who often hang out online should also have multiple email addresses. Let me tell you my reasons. In fact, the reason is very simple. Let me use an analogy that everyone can understand. For example, if you can afford to buy ten good cars, then someone should buy an Audi or other business-oriented cars. As a business car, buy a Ferrari. A sports car or something else as a "private life car", etc. Free mailboxes abound nowadays. If you want, you can get more than ten mailboxes for free. Then you should have a more formal mailbox (paid mailboxes are better), which can be used in more formal ways, such as using For applying for payment tools such as Alipay and PayPal, of course you can also use this email as a business email. Apply for a few more email addresses and use them for less important places, such as registration reviews for some forums and communities. The number of mailboxes and how to divide them depends on personal circumstances and preferences, but "don't put all your eggs in the same basket", as this will sometimes cause you a lot of trouble. As a personal webmaster, you need multiple mailboxes, because there are many places where you need to use mailboxes, such as advertising alliances. Another important point is to post soft articles or advertisements. Some forums and communities require email review. When your soft articles are too soft Or if the advertising is too rampant, it is very likely that you will be permanently banned or even have your IP blocked. Then it is necessary to apply for registration using another email address.
Second, there must be at least 2 browsers
Some people may find it strange that just one browser is suitable for their own use, so why do they need to install so many browsers? Some "experts" even said meaningfully that installing multiple browsers will cause conflicts and slow down the system. These principles are correct, but as a personal webmaster, you have to install multiple browsers, because personal webmasters have "magnificent powers". He is not just a webmaster. Most personal webmasters are web designers. It is equal to a teacher, network promoter, and website editor. Since you need to design your own web page and layout, you will inevitably have to play the role of a web designer. Anyone with web design experience knows that browsers with different kernels compile code differently, which means that the same piece of code will There will be differences in the display under different browsers. Some browsers will not support some codes. For example, the well-known CSS Chinese text flashing effect cannot be realized in IE, but it can be displayed in Firefox. After you design a page, testing it under IE is very suitable for you, but it may not be the same on other browsers with different cores. In fact, installing multiple browsers on one computer is a last resort. If you have multiple computers, it is best to install different browsers on different computers. So how many browsers and which browsers do individual webmasters need to install? My personal suggestion is to install an IE core browser. In addition to IE itself, the common IE core browsers in China include Maxthon, 360, Window of the World, TT, etc. ; Install Opera, this browser is quite popular in China and has many users; Install Firefox, which I believe everyone is familiar with and is very representative among non-IE users; Install Chrome, this browser is quite fast , I usually use this when going to photo sites. After all, it is a Google product, it has a good reputation and has many users.
Third, you must have a certain ability to "climb over the wall"
Of course, the higher the foreign language level, the better, but the next best thing is, how good a foreign language ability does an individual webmaster need? First of all, my English is not very good. I am a few points short of level 4 and have not passed the test. But as long as it is I can generally understand common computer-related things on the Internet. Even if I can't translate them word for word, I can still make a rough guess. If you are a programmer yourself, congratulations, you have achieved the English skills necessary for a personal webmaster. Why do I specifically talk about programmers instead of other professional skills? Because programmers, a profession that "sees the truth behind the scenes", not only have a certain level of computer skills, but also have extraordinary foreign language skills. So is it true that people in other professions cannot achieve this level? Of course not, this is not absolute. As long as you have the ability, it has nothing to do with your profession. So, what benefits does an individual webmaster need to have such good foreign language skills for the identity of "webmaster"? This question should be an idiot, but let me talk about it. First of all, the common information, technical articles, loopholes, etc. on the Internet, the initial Most of the versions are in English. With good English skills, you can get updated and more comprehensive articles that are useful to you faster; secondly, for some content sites, especially computer technology sites, such as my "Henxue Technology Network" ”, the website needs to update a large amount of content every day, most of which is reprinted from other sites, which is very bad for the quality of the website and search engine optimization, but if you are good at “circuiting the firewall”, you can Go to some foreign sites, translate their articles, and put them on your website, and they will become your original articles, or at least pseudo-original. Some people will say that there are so many translation tools now that are easy to use, such as Google, Kingsoft, etc. You only need to connect to the Internet to use them. If you copy them, they will automatically translate. Why do you need such high English skills? Then I I can tell you that whether it is Google or Kingsoft, it can translate short sentences. If it is to translate an entire article, it is really not a compliment. At least five of the ten sentences are not smooth or appropriate. If you don’t believe me, try it.
Fourth, you must have a certain computer technology foundation
I believe someone laughed when they saw this. They just opened their eyes and told lies. How can I be a webmaster without computer technology foundation? In fact, I don’t know how to elaborate on this issue. The basics of computer technology I am talking about do not refer to exactly what kind of knowledge. I personally think that one must have the look and attitude of "climbing high and looking far" to understand the entire computer knowledge. System, that is to say, if you are not proficient, you must be able to "pass" and your knowledge must be broad. Let me list a few points below:
1. Have a certain foundation in network technology. You don’t have to be proficient in TCP/IP, nor do you need to know how to wire, but you have to know what FTP is.
2. Have a certain operating system foundation. This may not have anything to do with building a website, but if I tell you about my experience, you may understand. I believe many people know that hard disks have the concept of "clusters" under WIN. I don't know if they exist under Linux, but when I asked our teacher, he said no. The virtual host I am using now is WIN, and the hard disk has 32 clusters. What is the concept of "cluster"? Baidu Encyclopedia has it, but I won't mention it here. If the hard disk has 32 clusters, then on this hard disk A single file is still considered 32k if it does not have 32k. For example, if one of your pictures is 12k, then it will occupy 32k in size after uploading to the space. This is not cost-effective for many people, so some IDCs have very large spaces. The price is very cheap, so you should consider this issue. If you master this concept, you can sometimes test the technicians of your hosting provider. Some time ago, I have been thinking about moving the site, so I looked around for providers. At the beginning, I would ask their customer service how many clusters the hard drive was. Yes, some customer service staff don’t understand this and will transfer me to technical customer service. Once, a technical customer service staff from an IDC told me that there is no “cluster” under WIN, only under Linux. I suggested that he learn about the operating system. principle, and later asked a few more technical questions, but he couldn't answer them. How can a company with such weak technical capabilities trust their website?
3. You must have a certain understanding of network products. For example, discuz is a product of Kangsheng Chuangxiang. This product has a PHP version and a .net version. Why I want to talk about this is because I met a student from the computer department of a normal college online before. He claimed that he would be admitted to graduate school and then go back to the department to teach cryptography. He is "proficient in C++, Java, and delphy." "delphy" was definitely what he typed at that time. I didn't type it wrong. I just "showed" his original words. He said that web design is outdated, building websites is outdated, and now embedded systems are popular. I said since you are so awesome, help me manage the forum. My forum was built using discuz 7.0. After he opened it, he asked me "What is this forum made of?". I was very depressed and called him directly. "Made on a computer." Later he asked what language it was written in. This question made me even more depressed. Let’s not talk about whether you recognize the word “discuz” or not. I didn’t make it static at the time. Just click on it with the mouse and you can tell from the URL that it is written in PHP. Fortunately, he is a computer major. Besides, you can tell from the appearance that it is "discuz" at a glance, and the "Powered by discuz" on the title bar is so obvious that I don't believe he can't see it. It can be seen that that person is either a fake or a frog in the well. The main purpose of this example is that when individual webmasters do not have in-depth programming skills, they can use the help of others to achieve their own wishes. If you want to make a forum, you can use other people's forum programs. If you want to make a website, you can use CMS. There is absolutely no need to work hard to write a website program that is full of loopholes.
4. Have a certain programming foundation. As mentioned above, you don’t have to write the website program yourself, but you also need to have a certain understanding of programming. At least you must know Html. If you don’t even know this most basic web design language, then Your journey as a webmaster will be more difficult. Having a certain programming foundation will be of great help to you when choosing a WEB space. For example, if you want to use discuz 7.2 to build a forum, but you buy a space that does not support PHP and a Mssql database, then your Forums will not be able to appear on this space, and vice versa.
5. Be able to use some design software. I don’t want to say too much about this. Currently, I use Photoshop to process images, Imageready to make dynamic GIFs, Firework to make PNG images, Flash to make flash animations, and Dreamweaver to design web pages. Don’t seek mastery, just be adequate.
Fifth, have certain team management capabilities
This is even more prominent among forum webmasters. If you just rely on one person to build a website, it will be a considerable amount of work. A full-time webmaster is okay, but if it is a part-time job, a student like me has to go to class and now he has to look for a job. In fact, The time you spend on a website is very limited. If there is a team at this time, things will get twice the result with half the effort. The "Arhat" who is now known as Alibaba was Jack Ma's indispensable right-hand man in Hangzhou. NetEase was by no means created by Ding Lei alone, and Sohu was not developed by Zhang Chaoyang sitting in front of the computer every day. Although the individual webmaster has not yet established a company, the friends around you, your friends on the Internet, and the leaders in your forums are all your potential teams. How to handle the relationship with them and help your site operate more decently? , this still requires certain skills.
The above five points are my relatively incomplete skills analysis of personal webmasters. Of course, as a personal webmaster, these are not enough. I did not mention search engine optimization skills above. There are too many such articles on the Internet. . Here I only mention some points that are more practical and easier to overlook. I hope it can be helpful to all webmasters. My knowledge is limited. If there are any mistakes or mistakes, I welcome criticism and advice. My QQ: 415245871, welcome like-minded people.
