Let me first recall a painful personal failure experience. I remember that 5 years ago, when I was still in college, I made a website out of temporary interest and impulse. The idea at the time was to effectively collect secondary resources from the college campus. At the same time, because college students will have a lot of secondary resources to deal with when they graduate. At this time, because time is very tight, many people throw away some personal books, etc. Out of this idea, my Wenxin68.com was born. Since I was still a student, I failed in the end. Experience promotes progress. This is a process of constantly charging, hitting a wall, and then regrouping to charge again. I have encountered executives from large companies tearing up contracts because they did not provide him with any advice; I have encountered "friends" who enthusiastically introduced projects, but they just wanted us to accompany the prince to study and accompany him. People bid...all the setbacks along the way will be transformed into wealth in life. A company's success may vary widely, but its struggles may be similar. The following are some of my thoughts and experiences about online entrepreneurship, and I look forward to sharing them with my friends:
Share some thoughts and experiences on online entrepreneurship
1. If you are not professional, it will not be easy to get involved in online entrepreneurship. In terms of technology and operation and promotion, if you don’t have rich experience or connections, you will take many detours and pay a lot of costs. Many people in traditional industries excitedly invested in the Internet because of a concept, and confidently made a plan to launch the website in three months and make profits after half a year. However, they found that they were facing almost a black hole. After investing, they could not even make a sound. None. In networking, experience is very important. One elite is worth more than 10 ordinary people.
2. If you don’t have much money, it’s best not to do the Internet. Having little money may be a relative concept, but for a poor boy, the chance of becoming a phoenix due to the Internet is actually very low, especially in this era when giants have emerged. There are many legends popular in the industry, but they are just stories after all; stories are used for hype to attract attention. Who knows the real version? At least I will no longer believe that VCs can be found in the bathroom; or that VCs invest money and there are too many entrepreneurs. The angel who first invested in Google once said that he believed that a company must have money, and only with money can it be allowed to make mistakes. And start-up companies that are always worried about not being able to pay wages are precarious, their actions are deformed, and they may close down when they encounter difficulties. The process of entrepreneurship itself is constantly encountering difficulties. A friend said that they don’t pay wages, and a few people start a business in private houses. Their website is doing pretty well and its popularity is rising quickly, but I think hardship is necessary, but without money only hardship is dangerous. As a result, the project was disbanded after a year and everyone was recruited to work. Since it was passion, it was destined not to last long.
3. Regarding financing. It seems that the founder of DoubleClick said that the order of financing should be: own savings, wife's dowry, parents' money, money from relatives and friends, and then VC's money. I strongly agree with this view. If you don't devote your whole heart and even your wealth to a project, how can it be successful? When we first receive investment, it is not the result of our active operation, but the result of opportunities and resources. As a result, many friends came to learn from me, and most of them expected to get funds based on just a business plan. My understanding of this is that it's impossible; it's already past the time to get funds for the plan. If you have such good luck, you might as well buy a lottery ticket.
4. Cost control is very important. My experience of this is also very profound. Peter Drucker once said: "Entrepreneurs do two things, one is marketing, and the other is cost cutting, and they don't have to do anything else." But the most common mistakes that new entrepreneurs make are here. If you want to develop a website, hire at least a few programmers, and hire planning and promotion. When the company gets bigger, do you need a clerk or a financial officer? ...High costs will undoubtedly shorten the survival life of enterprises. Starting a business only requires necessary personnel, and methods such as outsourcing and cooperation should be widely adopted. Carrying heavy costs on the road, it was difficult to reach the other side. There are 12 months in a year, and there are 3 months in which there is nothing to do, that is, at the end of the year and the beginning of the year. For one person, the sum of salary, office expenses, social security and some other additional expenses will far exceed one's expectations. I once made a simple calculation. An employee with an annual salary of 50,000 yuan needs a gross profit of 80,000 yuan a year to support him. Remember, it is gross profit. If converted into operating income, it would only cost 200,000. It takes 200,000 yuan to support one person. Isn’t it terrible?
5. More important than website development is operation. This is especially important for those entering the Internet from other industries. Many people working on the Internet are obsessed with technical development, such as functions and interfaces. They modify it all day long. By the time the website is online, the opportunity has been missed and the cost is almost the same. It is understandable from human nature, who doesn’t want to strive for excellence and have unique features? In fact, there are many open source ones on the Internet. If you can use open source ones, don’t develop them yourself. When I first started, I asked my technical colleagues whether to develop a BBS or use an open source one. They all said that their own development was good and they could customize it. Later I discovered that after several months of development, the gap between it and DISCUZ was tens of thousands of miles, and tens of thousands of miles was not an exaggeration. There are also people who always want to go online after all the overall functions are completed. My suggestion is to go online after the last function or column is completed, and then slowly increase it. The Internet is a project that requires time to accumulate, so there is no need to waste time, and there is no need to miss opportunities. Before July 2006, everyone was showing off that their website was web 2.0, as if they were at the forefront of the times; after July, talking about web 2.0 was like showing off that they had shit. But once I saw a person on the Win in China program saying that he was working on web3.0. As a result, Jack Ma and Shi Yuzhu both shook their heads and said they didn't understand. The real deception is to make people understand and believe, rather than to make people ignorant and worship.
With the previous painful experience, now I have developed a new platform: www.npcka.com I believe that the current road can go further.
