It has been almost half a year since the Shaanxi Tourism Network was launched in January 2010. In the past six months, the website has been developed bit by bit from the very beginning, and I have a deep understanding of the feeling. I will talk about some of my personal experiences and feelings about making travel websites.
Building a website cannot be based on enthusiasm alone. To build a website, you must first carefully plan the positioning of your website. Whether the positioning of the website is successful or not is related to the future development direction and future destiny of the website. I started out as a local tourism website. When the website was first launched, the content was not very rich, so the main energy in the early stage was spent on enriching the content of the website and identifying problems. I still didn’t have a deep understanding of the positioning of the website. I've thought about it. As time goes by, the development direction of the website has become a serious problem in front of me.
To build a local tourism website, we must focus on "tourism" and fully tap local tourism resources. Tourism includes a lot of things, such as local culture, food, specialties, snacks, customs, hotel reservations, travel route recommendations, etc. This is not a problem for a powerful company to operate, but it is not so easy for a small webmaster with limited income. So funding becomes a limitation for website development.
It is not enough to simply provide tourism information. After the website develops, it is still necessary to strengthen the user loyalty and recognition of the website and enhance user interactivity. So how are these achieved? This requires the website to have a strong user interaction function module, and forums are a good way to accumulate popularity. But for the forum, the restrictions are relatively strict, so the administrator's management efforts have been strengthened. On the other hand, during this period of time, there were so many posts in the forum that it was difficult to maintain and manage them. The only way to solve these problems is to add moderators to the forum and strengthen forum membership and post management. For travel websites run by ordinary webmasters, the website is just in its infancy and does not have enough funds to operate, so the moderators can only be voluntary. There is little money to motivate the moderators, so they cannot be mobilized. Without everyone's enthusiasm, it will be difficult for the website to develop.
All in all, if you want to build a local website, you should choose those websites with great development potential and relatively mild competition, so that individual webmasters can operate them well. When the website develops to a certain scale, then you can consider longer-term development. Got it!
