Recently, I have seen a lot of webmasters’ entrepreneurial journeys and I have mixed feelings. Yes, from vaguely understanding the profession of webmasters to becoming a webmaster, we have paid too much. People often say that persistence is victory, but after all, there are too many "last resort" reasons that make it difficult for many webmasters to persist, and finally choose to leave sadly. Some are due to financial pressure, and some are due to girlfriends, relatives, and family issues. The pressure forced me to end my career as a webmaster.
However, there are still many webmasters who choose to persevere. Obviously I am one of them, otherwise I would not be here to share with you the two years of website development. I should be considered a typical grassroots webmaster, with no skills and no team. It all comes through step-by-step learning and practice. I am a perfectionist. Before I do something, I always think about things being too perfect. For example, before the website becomes a model, I think about how to achieve functions and page effects, and what to pass. It is good to plan ahead when purchasing goods through channels, and how to make profits, but unrealistic plans are always easy to fail.
Finally, I faced reality. I bought the source code of a shopping mall for 300 yuan, a domain name for 60 yuan, and a virtual machine for 320 yuan. This is how I started my journey as a webmaster. At the beginning, the main work was on modifying the LOGO, website title, etc. I won’t go into details about this. I am also very grateful to the buddy who sold me the source code. Because he is from the Northeast, I prefer to call him buddy. He helped me a lot during the website modification process, and he also helped me gradually understand the structure of some complex mall codes, although it was only a rarity.
After modifying this website into my own work, I started thinking about what products to sell. It sounds very funny. A person who has completed the website doesn’t know what he wants to sell? I originally considered selling desktop computers and laptops. , mobile phone digital and other relatively complete copycat products, just think about it, if you don’t have so much funds and have no price advantage, and most of them need to stock up, the risk is too great. In the end, I decided to switch to specialized clothing because I have friends who work in the clothing market on Qipu Road in Shanghai. The supply of goods and capital turnover are not a problem. The key is not to take too many risks in the early stage.
The clothing mall is mainly defined as making men's clothing. You need to find pictures and copy product descriptions to improve the product content. After almost all of them are put on the shelves, the road to promotion really begins. At that time, I didn’t have a complete concept of SEO. I didn’t even know that adjusting the product title and description was part of SEO work. Anyway, no matter what, promotion usually means going to crowded places to attract attention and then advertising, at least that’s what I think. At the beginning of the promotion, I often visited some Baidu post bars and inserted some text ads and picture ads in my replies. At that time, Baidu allowed posting links. Tieba is indeed effective. My website gradually gained some traffic, which made me very happy. After that, I continued to use the same method in different forums, video websites, and blogs. The promotion was carried out and achieved good results, although it was very tiring during the period.
Later, through observation and learning from friends, I learned about SEO techniques such as QQ promotion, soft article promotion, friendly links, and website original article updates. As optimization gets better and better, many keywords have been improved, and the traffic they bring has also increased day by day. What needs to be explained here is: although there are many methods, the method that is practical, effective, and suitable for your own website is the best. , if I say that I have mastered many optimization techniques, I will undoubtedly be misleading others. With increasing study and persistence, it took more than 1 year and 5 months to gradually reach the average daily IP of 2W. Most of the time, I was in front of the computer eating instant noodles and smoking low-quality cigarettes. I smoked and went barefoot for several days without taking a shower, which meant that the website had almost zero income for more than half a year, but I persevered. A big thank you to friends and family for their support.
Now the website can be said to be on the right track. Now there are 60-80 orders per month, and the average income is more than 4,000 yuan a month. Plus the two homepage advertising spaces fixed at 1,000 yuan per month, basically it can Achieve a monthly income of 5,000 yuan. Waiting for further development of the website, I think I will recruit a few more SEOs to optimize the website, because it is too busy to do the website alone, but it is still very busy. I plan to find a few men's clothing brand merchants recently. Let’s talk about cooperation with website brand counters. This is a bit of experience from a small website, and I hope that the majority of webmasters can make money every day and have a steady flow of money!
