1. Select the preferred domain
This is very important. When we publish a website, we need to make it clear that we need to determine whether to use the second-level domain name of WWW or the top-level domain name as the preferred domain name. If it is not determined, we will wait until the website has been promoted for a certain period of time. To change, then the weight of the wrong domain name needs to be passed through 301. For Baidu search engine, the time required will be 1 to 3 months. When we select the second-level domain name www as the preferred domain, we can specify it in the Google management tool. For Baidu, it only needs to use the preferred domain for promotion when promoting. Even if the webmaster has determined the preferred domain at the beginning and uses this domain name for promotion, it is inevitable that the weight of www will be lower than the weight of the top-level domain name. Maybe Baidu believes that the top-level domain name has less weight than the second-level domain name. The important thing is higher. This avoids 301 redirects in the future when the top-level domain name has authority.
2. 301 redirect
Many friends have troubles in this regard. When do you need 301 redirection? I won’t go into details about how to use redirection here. There are a lot of related operation methods on the Internet. But what I want to talk about here is when do you need to use 301 redirection? When a user finds that the homepage of his website is not at the first place after the website is published, but the top-level domain name is first. Although there is no external top-level domain name, Chain promotion, but there are many inclusions under the top-level domain name. This situation mainly occurs when the user first publishes the website and analyzes the top-level domain name. At this time, we can redirect the website to the website through 301 redirection. WWW domain name. For example, when my website "Zhetianba" just started, it parsed the top-level domain name. Later, Baidu didn't know why, but gave my top-level domain name a lot of weight. The keyword ranking of the top-level domain name was higher than that of the second-level domain name. The domain name WWW comes at a higher price. I also gathered power through 301. Of course, if the domain name is established soon, you can stop parsing the top-level domain name! 301 redirection has absolutely no negative impact. You can set it boldly, but after setting it up, it is best to check it through a tool (status code detection tool). When you Enter the top-level domain name and see if the returned status code is 301. If so, there is no problem.
3. 404 page settings
After the website is published, content will be continuously added and deleted. During this process, it is inevitable that the page will not exist due to deletion. At this time, it is necessary for us to set up a 404 error page and return it to the search engine. This page does not exist. The status information allows search engines to promptly delete this link in the database. For IIS settings, right-click the website "Properties" and find the http error type 404 in the custom errors and edit it. The message type is "File" and the file path selects the 404 error page. Some friends will find that this setting has no effect. Then you can suggest the webmaster to select the message type as "URL" and then put the 404 error page in the root directory and the file path. to "/404.htm". What I want to explain here is that when making a 404 page, do not make a jump. This is a big taboo in search engine optimization. When the error page makes a jump, the search engine will think that the weight is transferred to the homepage, which will lead to The homepage is demoted. Our suggestion is: the error page can have some recommended links, site map, site search content and a homepage link, which can improve the user experience and reduce the page bounce rate. For webmasters who use virtual spaces, they can directly set the 404 error page in the background, which is more convenient.
4. Settings for multiple websites and single IP
Some friends must be thinking, how can multiple websites with a single IP be set up to be accessible at the same time? In fact, there are two methods, one of which is to use different port numbers. However, this method is not conducive to search engine optimization, so I will not elaborate here. Well, what I want to introduce to you is to share IP to access different domain name websites through the host header. Create two websites under the Internet Information Manager, right-click on one of the websites, "Properties", select the "Website" tab, and add a domain name with the host header A in the Advanced tab on the right side of the IP address bar. In the same way, in the settings of another website, add the domain name with the host header as B, so that the multi-site single IP setting method is set. 5. View website logs
Presumably some webmasters do not pay attention to search engine spiders. Some may not be able to access the logs due to virtual space problems, and some may not pay attention to spiders. In fact, Baidu spiders cannot reflect the situation of the website in detail, but for our Website maintenance has a very good guiding significance. For example, when the website is not included or the snapshot is not updated, we can pay attention to the spider situation to roughly understand the development trend of the website, or check the return status code to understand whether the website has Trojans and other problems. Not all virtual spaces support log viewing, so when purchasing virtual spaces, we must pay attention.
