After the operations in the previous parts, our webpage has been illustrated with pictures and text, and has considerable effect, but this is not enough for the webpage. In order for the many webpages in the website to become an organic whole, each webpage must be processed through super Links are connected so that viewers can jump between different pages.
1. Link pictures and text
It is very convenient to create links for some text or pictures. Just use the mouse to select the picture or text that needs to be turned into a link, and then enter the address of the target page that needs to be jumped in the "Link" input box of the properties panel, or Press the folder icon next to the input box to select the file you want to jump to. In addition, Dreamweaver MX 2004 also provides a way to quickly link files through the website window.
Step 1: First run the "Site→Manage Sites" command and select an already created site from the pop-up menu. At this time, you can see the pop-up site management window on the right.
Step 2: Select the text or image in the editing area, and directly drag the circular target icon next to the "Link" input box in the properties panel. An arrow will appear when it points to a file in the website manager. , a box will appear around the file (Figure 1).

Step 3: After releasing the mouse, an underline will appear at the bottom of the selected text, and the color of the word will turn blue, and the address of the target file will automatically be displayed in the "Link" input box.
Tip: When establishing a link, you need to pay attention to the two ways of URL. 1. Absolute address: such as www. abc. com/test. htm; 2. Relative address: such as download/1. htm, description page 1. htm is in the root directory of the server.
2. Set multiple links on one picture.
Some web pages have multiple links on a large picture, so that visitors can enter different pages by clicking on different positions of the picture. This is the application of the concept of image hot areas. We can follow the steps below to achieve this.
Step 1: In Dreamweaver MX 2004, you can first select the image. At this time, you can see a "Map" area on the image properties panel. There are three light blue tool icons below it, namely rectangle, circle and polygon.
Step 2: Use the mouse to select one of them as needed, then move the mouse to the image and drag out a light blue area.
Step 3: Fill in the web page address to be linked in the "Link" input box in the properties panel, and an image hot area is ready.
Similarly, by setting multiple image hot areas for this image, you can click on different areas of the image to enter different pages.
3. Customize the jump links within the page.
If you often subscribe to free e-magazines online, or browse very long pages, you should be familiar with this kind of tagged link. This is a directory-like list to easily jump to the page. any part within.
Step 1: In Dreamweaver MX 2004, first determine the location where the link points, which is the location where the link will stay after the screen jumps. Then select the target text and run the "Insert→Named Anchor" command.
Step 2: Type the label name (such as test3) in the "Anchor name" input box. At this time, an anchor tag will automatically appear under the text to distinguish it from ordinary text content (Figure 2).

Step 3: Enter "#test3" in the "Link" input box of the property board, where test3 is the name just set, so that the page jump function can be realized.
Tip: If you want to point to a certain location on another page, just put this anchor tag there.
4. Quickly check the web link
. When surfing the Internet, the most annoying thing is to see error messages such as "Web Server error 4004: File Not Found". Since there are a lot of links in a website, a little care will lead to many link errors. However, in Dreamweaver MX 2004, you can easily check the links.
Step 1: Run the "Site→Check Links SideWide" command in Dreamweaver MX 2004, and the link check panel will be activated.
Step 2: From the "Show" drop-down menu in the upper left part of the panel, you can select Broken Links (broken links), Extranal Links (external links), and OrphanedFiles (orphaned files). For example, after we select Orphaned Files, Dreamweaver MX 2004 will check the current link status and display a list of orphaned files.
Step 3: For the problematic file, double-click the left mouse button to open it for modification.
Tip: External links are link addresses that link to external websites, and Dreamweaver cannot check their correctness.
