The basic operating methods of Dreamweaver MX 2004 have been introduced before. By using these methods flexibly, you can build a beautiful website. After completing these operations, it can be said that we have gone through more than half of the process of settling on the Internet. What is left is to upload the web page to the site and the subsequent maintenance and update operations of the page. In fact, these tasks are not complicated, as long as we use the built-in site management function of Dreamweaver MX 2004, we can easily achieve it!
To customize the site
, first we need to find some space on the Internet for storing the home page, and then we can customize the site in Dreamweaver MX 2004.
The first step is to run the "Site→Manage Sites" command and click the "New→Site" button in the pop-up window to create a new site.
The second step is to select the "Local Info" item on the left side of the site settings window, and then enter the name of the site, the path to the local file, and other information in the right area.
In the third step, select the "Remote Info" item on the left side of the window, and then enter the remote FTP site transmission type (usually FTP), remote server file storage path, and host address obtained when applying for space in the right area. Information such as user name and password. At the same time, you also need to choose whether to use the "Use passive FTP" item according to the transmission mode of the site. This is because some FTP sites use passive working mode, and this item must be selected for these sites (Figure 1).
Tip: After entering all the information, you can click the "Test" button to see whether you can successfully log in to the remote FTP server.
After confirming the fourth step, Dreamweaver MX 2004 will automatically appear in the site auxiliary panel. Here, first click the "Connect" button to establish a connection with the remote site, and then press the "Expand/Collapse" button on the far right of the auxiliary panel. At this time, The auxiliary panel can be expanded to display (as shown in Figure 2). By default, the left window displays files in the remote site, and the right window displays files in the local hard disk.
Step 5: Use the mouse to select the file to be uploaded in the local hard disk window on the right, and drag it to the corresponding directory of the remote server on the left to start the file transfer operation. After a while, the file upload task is completed.
Tip: You can use the "Shift" or "Ctrl" button to select multiple files for upload.
After all the web page files are uploaded, we can open the IE browser and enter the corresponding URL address to see the carefully crafted website.
Synchronously update website
Synchronous website update is a function that allows you to synchronously manage local folders and remote websites. When your website is uploaded and updated multiple times, there may be a lot of useless old files in the remote website, which is very wasteful. Space, at this time, you can use the file synchronization function to update the website synchronously.
The first step is to enter the site window in Dreamweaver MX 2004, log in to the remote server, switch the auxiliary panel to extended mode, and then set the local folder and the directory of the remote server.
The second step is to run the "Site→Synchronize" command in the auxiliary panel. At this time, you can see the dialog box shown in Figure 3. First, select the entire website or the selected file in the "Synchroniz" drop-down menu, and then select the "Put newer files to romote" item from the "Direction" drop-down list, so that Dreamweaver MX 2004 can automatically find the updated files in the local folder. The file is uploaded to the remote server.
Tip: Select "Delete remote files not on local files" to prompt you to delete useless junk files in the local folder.
In the third step, after clicking the "Preview" button, the preview window shown in Figure 4 will appear. Here you can view the list of files that need to be uploaded. After confirmation, click the "OK" button to start the update operation.
After completing the update, Dreamweaver MX 2004 will also display the entire update result in the window shown in Figure 4, which can help us understand whether the synchronized update of the website is complete.
After mastering the above operations, we can not only upload files directly through Dreamweaver MX 2004, but it is also very convenient for post-maintenance.
