Source: PS Alliance Author: The hand-grip metal statue seems simple, but it is still relatively difficult to make. The general process: First cut out the character part separately, then remove the color and turn it into the required gray or copper yellow, etc., and then enhance the contrast to create a rough texture. After the initial effect is achieved, you need to use a filter or manually add highlights to render the metallic texture. This step is the most important and the most difficult to operate. Just deal with the details at the end.

1. Open the original image material and press Ctrl + J to duplicate the background layer.
2. Use the pen tool to cut out the character part on the background copy, convert it to a selection and press Ctrl + J to copy the character to a new layer.
3. Press Ctrl + Shift + U to remove the color of the copied character layer (Layer 2) and make it black and white.
4. Duplicate the black and white character layer to get a copy of layer 2, then lower its contrast, adjust the white in the optional colors, or apply it directly with a brush to make the white on the character gray, as shown in the left picture below.
5. Duplicate layer 2 again and use a mask to increase contrast. The purpose is to enhance the contrast of the characters and darken the dark areas.
6. Execute: Filter>Artistic Effect>Plastic Packaging, the values will vary depending on your own. The purpose is to make the highlights more obvious, as shown in the picture below.
7. Next is the most important step - painting the highlights. Select the brush tool and select the brush on the lower left in the picture below. The color is close to white. Create a new layer and highlight the shoulders of the character and the high places of the folds of the clothes (a certain amount of painting concepts are required). Click to achieve the effect shown in the picture below, and the basic form will appear.
8. Next is the shoe part. Since the shoe is white, we need to turn it into dark gray. Use a pen to cut out the shoe, copy it to a new layer, and then use your familiar method to color the upper left corner of Centennial City. Then create a new layer and add highlights to the shoes, as shown below.
9. Basically, we are done. All that remains is to adjust the color of the real bronze statue on the left to make it more realistic. Adjust the overall tone again and blur the background. A final sharpening and it's done.
