Source: Siyuan Forum Author: Kevin Dora The material picture is a bit dark, and the skin color of the characters is a bit distorted. When beautifying, start with whitening. Partially dark parts need to be selected using a selection and then whitened. Then the overall retouching is done. In order to highlight the sunlight effect, in addition to using warm colors for the picture, some highlights need to be added.
Original picture
final effect
1. Open the character material, create a color level adjustment layer, brighten it appropriately, and set the parameters as shown below.
2. Create a curve adjustment layer and adjust the RGB. The parameters are as shown below.
3. Create a color balance adjustment layer to adjust the midtones and add red and yellow colors. The parameters are as shown below.
4. Create a brightness/contrast adjustment layer and brighten it again. Because this picture wants to have the feeling of sunlight, there is no need to consider the feeling of overexposure in small parts. If you really feel that it is too transitional, you can add Mask to erase the overexposed parts.
5. Because I am used to creating a new adjustment layer to operate, now I stamp the layer after completing the above steps. If I operate directly on the original image, this step is not needed.
6. Enter the channel panel, click on the blue channel, hold down the Ctrl key + click with the mouse, load the blue channel selection, click on RGB and then click on the layer panel, create a new curve adjustment layer, and brighten it again. You can see it in the inner channel in the past. The blue channel is very dark, and the parameter settings are as shown below.
7. Create a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer, adjust the red color, and set the saturation to: +19 to make the hat brighter.
8. Create a new layer with fill color: #cc9900, change the layer blending mode to "Soft Light", and change the opacity to: 17%.
9. Create a new layer with fill color: #000033, change the layer blending mode to "Difference", and change the opacity to: 14%.
10. Create a new layer with fill color: #000033, change the layer blending mode to "Exclude", and change the opacity to: 33%.
11. Create a new layer, fill it with color: ffcc00, change the layer blending mode to "Hard Light", and change the opacity to: 6%.
12. Create a new layer and press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E to stamp the layer. Change the layer blending mode to "Screen" and the opacity to: 16%.
13. At this time, you can see that the face of the character is still relatively dark, so use the lasso tool to roughly select some positions on the face, feather it by 20 pixels and then use curves to brighten it. The parameter settings are as shown below.
14. Create a new layer, fill it with color: #000033, change the layer blending mode to "Exclude", and change the opacity to: 54%.
15. Create an optional color adjustment layer and adjust the red color. The parameter settings are as shown below.
16. The color adjustment is basically completed here. Then I felt that it still lacked a little bit of sunlight, so I used a brush to paint a little bit of light.
17. Create a new layer, set the foreground color to white, set the brush size to: 750 - 800, then draw on the upper left hand of the character, and change the layer blending mode to "Soft Light".
18. Create a new layer, continue to use the same brush as above to draw on the character's face, set the layer blending mode to "Soft Light", and change the opacity to: 30%.
19. Then create a vignetting effect. Stamp the layer, change the layer blending mode to "Multiply", add a layer mask and use a black brush to erase the parts except the surrounding areas.
20. Finally, add decorative text and sharpen the layer appropriately to complete the final effect.
