1. Open the original image material and use the magnetic lasso tool to outline the character.
2. Use the Polygonal Lasso Tool at 0 pixels to select the unchecked positions. Then press the key combination Ctrl+Shift+I to deselect the selection.
3. Add a quick mask and press the shortcut key Q. The unselected parts will be red, indicating the protected area.
4. Click the Gradient Tool, select the "Linear Burn" tool in the "Mode" drop-down menu, and hold down the Shift key to pull out the gradient from bottom to top.
5. Press the Q key again to exit the mask, and the ant line selection will appear. Click on Lens Blur in Filters.
6. Adjust the radius slider to blur the background appropriately. You can see the background of the character gradually blurring from near to far.
7. In the last step, enlarge the image and use your finger smudge tool to perfect the areas where the blur is not in place.
