Recently, the 2024 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Artificial Intelligence Industry Conference, guided by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology and hosted by the Guangdong Artificial Intelligence Industry Association, was successfully held in Guangzhou. With the theme of "Building the Foundation for General Artificial Intelligence and Empowering Thousands of Industries and Industries", the conference attracted many industry experts, scholars and business representatives to gather together to discuss the latest development and application prospects of the artificial intelligence industry.
During the conference, the 2024 Guangdong Artificial Intelligence Industry Association Science and Technology Awards Ceremony was grandly held. The "Key Technologies and Applications of Online Classroom Teaching Quality Assessment Based on Multimodal Machine Learning" jointly developed by TAL and Jinan University (hereinafter referred to as the Technology) won the first prize of Science and Technology Progress Award.
This technology designs a multi-modal data representation layer based on multi-modal data such as audio, video, text, and images in the teaching process to achieve effective collection and labeling of teaching behaviors in real educational scenarios, overcoming the problem of low-quality multi-modal data in the education field. (For example, audio and video information are not synchronized, modalities are not aligned; data is missing, etc.), the prediction accuracy on a given data set is improved by 10% compared to the optimal algorithm at the time. Finally, it integrates many cutting-edge AI+ educational capabilities such as automatic identification of in-class teaching behaviors, automatic rating of classroom teaching quality, automatic alarms for problem classes, etc., and also derives automatic generation of student learning reports, evaluation of teacher preparation and practice, and evaluation of students' speaking ability, etc. Ability application has successfully broken the "black box" of the classroom teaching process and made classroom evaluation indicators more objective and quantifiable.
Since the implementation of this project, all parties have given it high praise and recognition. Schools and institutions can use key technologies and applications for online classroom teaching quality assessment to implement large-scale, high-quality classroom quality inspections to better ensure classroom quality and safety compliance; teachers can use it to adjust teaching content and methods to fully ensure classroom experience and quality, while improving their own teaching capabilities and helping to build a team of high-quality teachers; parents and students can use the system-generated After-class in-depth learning reports can better understand the classroom learning situation and students' own shortcomings, so as to make adjustments, carry out personalized learning, and grow steadily; students can also use the oral assessment ability in the system to improve their expression level and express themselves better. own demands, so that parents and teachers can better understand themselves, increase the emotional connection between teachers and students, and promote the improvement of parent-child relationships.
The project has also been recognized and affirmed by domestic and foreign government agencies. The technical solution has been selected into the UNICEF "Artificial Intelligence for Children" research report as a representative case of China's exploration in the field of artificial intelligence + education. At the same time, it has also been recognized by many government authorities such as the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Central Cyberspace Administration of China. It was selected into the Central Cyberspace Administration of China's 2021 Artificial Intelligence Enterprise Typical Application Case Study Results and was selected into the Ministry of Science and Technology's "Intelligent Education Innovation Application Development Report" 》, as the result of the new generation of national artificial intelligence open platform for smart education, it was unveiled at the national "13th Five-Year Plan" Science and Technology Innovation Achievements Exhibition; at the same time, it was recognized by many social organizations and was selected into the BAAI Excellent AI achievements at the 2020 Beijing Zhiyuan Conference; relevant technical cases were included in the Internet Society of China's "Smart Education Development and Industry Map Research Report (2021)" and the excellent case collection of the minors' network protection series "Artificial Intelligence for Children".
Based on the technical capabilities and research results of this project, it has also received international recognition and won the 2022 CIKM Best Resource Paper Nomination Award for the top international conference on data mining and information retrieval, and the 2022 International Computer Education Data Mining (CSEDM) Student Performance Prediction Challenge First place and second place in the Knowledge Tracking Challenge, first place in the 2023 International Smart Education Competition The Quest for Quality Questions and other honors.
At present, the technical capabilities of this project have been opened to the outside world through the national new generation smart education open platform built by TAL.
